Ladder 49

I just got back from this movie, and it was quite good. Joaquim Phoenix and John Travolta did great jobs. This one tugs at the heartstrings throughout the film.

I don't know...although Roger Ebert gave it two thumbs up, I think I will wait until it come out on video. I saw the movie "Backdraft" can "Ladder 49" be much different?

Lad, while the movie is about firefighters, the plot is rather different form Backdraft. Backdraft was more of a suspense film, with a crazy arsonist on the loose that they were trying to catch. It was also a story about two brothers who don't really get along. Ladder 49 is about a group of firefighters spending the whole movie trying to save one of their own, and his history as a firefighter is told in flashbacks. The jobs of the characters is the only similarity to Backdraft.

I saw this movie a while back. It is pretty good. It is realistic in its approach. I don't have the background to check the accuracy of fire fighting.
