Ladies Free Skate

Thanks to you all. I'm at work and was holding on to every post written.
Can't wait to see CZ win the gold at Nationals.:clap:

Results of the top Two non-surprising. Somehow at first I thought Asada would pull it out but I forgot she was behind in the sp.

Yes, thanks for the reports guys.

Unfortunately I have the opposite thought. Things have always been so-so during the first half of the season, but for me this year was especially dull. I guess because there are no real stars out there.

Ah, give'em time!
They will eventually fill Michelle's shoes.

let's not pre-celebrate here, but I think it's high time the US Nationals field was actually open to anyone.

Once again, Mao short-changes herself with a completely uncharacteristic mistake in the SP...I know she's been having trouble with the combo, but leaving out the 3Z altogether?!

Oh and to everyone who said thanks, not a problem!

I know, Mao really is her own worst enemy right now....but, the good news is, she didn't pop the combo as earlier in the season AND she totally fought back in the LP. And props to YuNa for not falling apart with a fall - these ladies are tough, I love it!

I think the USFSA would really hate to crown a skater ineligible for Worlds. A national champion who can't be sent to the Words! Never!

I think asada was low balled on components. Yu-na got higher PE than her even with a fall. I think that mao having skated first really affected her component scores. I think that yu-na still should have won, but she shouldn't have gotten so close to asada in the freeskate part. I was thinking that it should have been like 127 for Kim.

Looking at the protocols, Mao had a much higher base-value than Yu-Na but Yu-Na almost matched her actual TES with her GOE's - well deserved, besides the loop all of her jumps look better than ever before. Caroline got dinged badly for flutzing, and her fall was also called as a UR. Yukari was dinged for lipping. Kimmie's 3T in her 2A-3T was called a UR, and she was also dinged for lipping.

Until Mao fixes her flutz, I think that Yuna will end up on top if both of them skate clean SP's and LP's. Even with two triple-triple combinations AND a triple axel that score was barely a fraction of a point better than Yuna's skate with 1 fall, can you imagine if Yuna landed the triple loop????

That was one of the most exciting competitions I have ever seen!!
Mao was fantastic
Caroline rose to the occasion
Yu-Na showed that she is a fighter and worthy of the crown
Carolina finally put together a great lp this season
Kimmie....sad for her, but she kept going
Yukari- that 3A looks so good!

Do you actually think the US judges haven't already decided the podium?

I would like to HOPE not. otherwise just mail the struggling kimmie her gold. No, no. I think this will be the first year in a long time where we will actually have a national COMPETITION on our hands

Just wondering how could Mao with 3A and 2 3/3 is just a point above Yu-na in Tes even with a fall?

You are probably right. The cheating american judges can't actually judge the skate in front of them. And then usfsa wonders where all the fans went.

If Kimmie and Caroline skate like today, we will see an underage national champion.

I think that both Yu-Na and Mao are amazing skaters, and I hope that Caroline Zhang continues to delight us in the future :) The fact that two of the Ladies did perfect triple axels was truly inspiring. A great Ladies' competition! Congratulations!
