Gracie was a Junior this year she admitted she spent it getting tech content up not as much on other aspects of her skating. At least give her a chance to get better before you bury her. And just who has looked as good as Mao or Kim at their age? Ashley? Carolina? Akikko? That is a moronic comparison. No one has compared Gracie to Kim or Mao at the same age.

Alright. Let's not compare her to Yuna or Mao. Let's go fresher. In terms of PCS she looks way worse than Adelina. And Adelina is younger. Once again, nobody is burying Gracie. What I am saying is she needs one more specialist who will help her. Or a new coach.
Caro was one of those who got hyped up a lot when she was younger. Mainly because she can do both 3F-3T, 3Lz-3T. No weakness, speed is legendary. All they could talk about is her speed. Some thought she would be someone to challenge for gold in Turin.
Ashley and Akiko were no where near Kim or Mao at a young age.
Gracie is 17yo. She should skate with a bit more polished. She doesn't have a program that I would go back to watch again like the other girls.
Adelina is in a worse position than Gracie going forward. Her technique is just horrible. She will lose all of her jumps as her body fill out more. All of her landings are just so forward. I don't think she will be a factor at any big event.

I can't fault a coach who really brought Gracie out of nowhere to compete well against the top world juniors in one year. One skater is not going to be the best at everything and it's nice to see an American woman doing difficult jumps and not falling all over the place. I'm just afraid if she focuses too much on artistry and loses her jumps she will be in a bad position because she'll never be the best artist out there, but she can at least be a very good artist with world-class technical content.

Her jumps did look shakier than they had in the past. She was my favorite of the young Russians before the start of the season and I still think she could factor in at big events. However I think she might need one more season to improve her jump technique before that happens.
She was mine, too. I thought she would be challenging for gold in Sochi. I don't think one season can clean up all that mess. It wasn't just one jump that is the problem. Even her 2A, she was so forward. Lost a lot of speed after any jump so her combo will always be problematic. And her team is not smart, either. Seasons of putting 3flutz-3loop in the program knowing full well she flutz.
I honestly don't see her going anywhere with a bad team and bad technique.

Her jumps aren't all bad. Her flip is remarkable; she gets tremendous height in the jump and usually lands it well. The forward landings can be fixed as well.

I think maybe Adelina should leave Buanova. I hate to even suggest this but someone like Morozov could maybe help her get her jump consistency back. She does have huge jumps but she is starting to become built more like a Slutskaya, meaning she'll need to back on the technical abilities to get her to the top. She has great stretch and flexibility but she is not built like a little ballerina anymore, and so her free leg extension and spins don't impress me as much as they have in the past. Morozov was able to help Alena become a factor after it seemed like she really wasn't going to be one, so he could maybe do the same for Adelina. Of course, other coaches are also an option, but, it makes me sad to see Adelina skating like this. I know she's still managed to medal at her events this season, but to me that mostly seemed do to reputation...she was definitely disappointing IMO. She has a lot of talent with those huge jumps, but she has to get it together and soon or else I really think the Sochi ladies team will be Tuk, Lip, and Leonova.
Just watched Gracie's performance. Wasn't her best, but I think she held her own. As others said -- she kept going. I thought it was smart of her to at the 2T to her second lutz.
And actually considering she only had a few weeks to practice this version of her FS. (I think 2), she did pretty well. She didn't even seem that tired when she was done, which tells me the mistakes were more mental than physical. For example with the 2A jump, I don't think the 2A is the problem since she has consistently done the 2A-3T in all her FS programs this year. I get the sense that her mind and body gets too relaxed at that point of the program (i.e. I've done all my hard jumps this will be so easy!). That is something she and her team will have to work on.
(And I feel bad for jinxing her in her thread about her unbeaten 3Z-3T record. Well 4 out of 5 isn't bad (or 9 out of 10 if you include her summer comps).
I think her finish has given her some confidence for next year.

but it doesn't matter this was Gracie's first seniors, remember Liza ? her first seniors was a bang though
she blew everyone away at Japan Open. she beat Rochette, Ando, Czisny and others
I think Adelina grew again, she looks taller than Gracie now, she will probably grow a few more inches
her hips have filled out and could be near done of her growing, with that said I am happy she has kept all her humungous jumps
its nice how people afar have thrown teddies after her LP
and I don't think Gracie needs to be an Ice princess with typical programs that others seems to be pushing her.

Given how much he regards Liza, I really doubt Mishin would take on her direct competitor.
Gracie's PCS was about 1 point less than Adelina, so apparently the judges don't share your opinion. Her PCS was fine, considering it was her senior debut & third international competition. She has very little high-level competition experience, even nationally. Where Gracie messed up was her TES. She missed her 3Lz-3T combination for the first time in a competition this season, and didn't do her second double axel - so she lost points for 3 jumps (it was supposed to be a 2A-2T-2T combination.)

You think Mishin would give Sotnikova the Yagudin treatment over Tuk ?
I'm thinking have Mishin as her jump coach and have Tagaeva as her main coach with Tarasova
some people got edge calls on lutz and flips but Sotnikova didn't. Yesterday it seemed she may get edge calls on both lutz and flip but it didn't happen today so that was a little weird. Edge calls on her on not consistent- thought I think they were on the GP. That huge single lutz was indicative of big problems but suprisingly she had one of the best jump skates of the season. The PCS was fine and was suprising that Gold was right there. with her and made a debut with great PCS in the free if not the short.
I just seems that Mishin is protective of his students, so he probably wouldn't want to jeopardize his professional relationship with Liza.

2) Adelina...I wish she had her stunning combo, but on the whole it was pretty good. She showed great deal of things, not just elements. Mezmerizimg to watch.
3) Ashley - I am a fan of hers this season, I hope she can keep the same level and doesn't blow next year, like Alissa and Mirai.
4) Gracie - she seemed consistent, but at the end of the program she lost focus and made errors. Overall impression - fine, made me smile, I liked her, though I don't think she can be a medal contender as there are much more gifted ladies now in the field who have much more than just solid stable jumps.
5) Kanako - I don't like her
6) Akiko - beautiful, she reminded me of Yu-Na today
7) Carolina - I'm just a fan of figure skating and I don't understand all this fuss about her...I see nothing, I've never seen, and never will. I prefer Mao, Yu-Na, Alissa (when she's on), Liza.
