Ladies LP

I really think this contest is a 'let's keep Ashley down'. She is not a ballet-like skater and most fans will not accept another style. Hacker is that ballet-like style. This is good experience for both of them.

Joe

I don't think it should be called a style but rather a requirement. I really feel like every female skater should have that "ballet-like" grace. It was so painful to watch Sarah Hughes skate, even during her OGM performance,, and I feel almost the same way about Ashley. Not that it's heretically wrong, but I just feel like something' huge is missing when a skater skaters with subpar posture and muscles her way through the performance.....

It doesn't make any sense that a two-fall Cynthia was so close to Hacker/Wager.

I hate Cynthia.

I hate Cynthia.

Why hate Cynthia? If you think her placement is wrong, shouldn't you be hating the judges? What did Phaneuf ever do to you?

Hate's kind of a strong word.

It's not all about the jumps. I think Cynthia had superior stroking to both of them. She has that "floating" quality to her skating. Her spins and spirals were also very good. The jumps that she did do were very well done. She also has tremendous presence on the ice.

to be honest, ashley does not have the kind of "style" that hacker and phaneuf may have. hacker has great spins spirals, and nice extension throughout. but her jumps are low and not as secure. phaneuf makes more jump mistakes too, but she has a striking mature look that gives her a good "look" on the ice.

but ashley's posture is not bad. truthfully there is nothing bad about any of her skating, it's just that stylewise, nothing is "special." but she has the jumps and i think with the right packaging and choreography she can improve this a lot! she is just out of juniors so i'm sure she will get better. first thing in the right direction would be to get rid of the ponytail...

3lz-2loop
3flip
3sal step out
shizuka spiral!
3toe

Good performance, good for her!

I agree, I really like Cynthia as well. She's had to deal with so much, her injuries and her incredible growth spurt. She is so tall and her frame makes it so much more difficult for her to rotate those jumps. I'm glad to see her improvements . . . GO CYNTHIA!

Mira Leung
Rachmaninoff Piano Concertos No. 2&3
Black & white piano-pattern dress

She's come a long way in terms of presentation
Surprisingly, her first 4CC
3Z-2R, her entrances have definitely improved
3F, her landings are soft
3S, step-out, it's usually her best jump too...
Combo spin with lots of bendy positions
Layback with catchfoot into one-hand Biellmann, ok
Spiral sequence, she tries for the Shizuka position but doesn't quite work, not bad overall
3T, good
2A-2T-2R, sort of shaky on landings but clean
3F-2R, good!
3Z, pull it out
Flying camel into donut and then catchfoot, the one spin of hers I really like
SLSS, smooth, more energy than prior competitions
Final combo spin out of nowhere, nicely done.

A good program from Mira! Unlike Nationals, she didn't wilt.

She is too big and too strong for figure skating. She should go wrestling...:clap:

Good performance, good for her!

Why did Mira only do 6 triples? Take that 2axel out of a combination and add another 3toe in combination! Unless she's having trouble landing her toes now as well as her non-existent loops.

Anyways, sounds like she did well! :agree: And what's a Shizuka spiral?

Mira was overscored. I can't believe she got better PCS than Katrina Hacker. What a joke.

Mira goes into first overall with 157.36 despite being slightly behind Ashley in the long. Bodes well for the Canadians at Worlds. She is happy with the scores, new PB for her.

2axel is a requirement, she has to do at least one

Plus she already repeated the lz and flip, can't repeat the toe as well

bebe in 19th place currently?? she must have had a disastrous skate! geez.

oh whoops, i read that wrong, hah. she has yet to skate.
