Ladies' SP

Thanks, Bob. I really can't stay up (it's 4:24 am!) but I tuned in briefly and saw an exquisite Latvian girl named Zanna Pugaca. She is 15 years old and the current national champion and her line and musicality sang from beginning to end. Her jumps are not great and from what I've read on these boards, I imagine she has very limited ice time, but I wish her all the best. I forgot to say that she is also Gorgeous. Go, Zanna of Latvia!

What do you know, i also saw Bingwa Geng or whatever her name is. Beautiful little thing, very leggy. Great spinner although her positions were not up to the US girls', some jump problems. I don't think she really outdid my Zanna by as much as the score says (about 13 points or 33%).

Icenetwork feed is horrible for me. Video freezes every few seconds.
The Denmark girl - got a -1 deduction and scored 36 or 37 something. It's a girl from Norway now.

Norway girl - step-out of triple sal (or was it 3 loop?), spin very very messy. Had a hand down. Light yellow dress, exotic music. Sounds like salsa. Didn't catch anything else, the feed is too bad. Even the replays freeze up like no tomorrow. Anyone else with better feed?
TES: 16.62 (or .52)
Great, the whole video just died.

Vid is back.
Girl in black dress.
Good leg extension on spiral (only caught one)
Layback, not very low.
Spins slow in general
Scores: -1 for something I didn't catch. 34.03 total.
Feed froze on all the jumps. =( Oh, she looks really unhappy in K&C
-
Girl (Ivana something) from Republic of something up now. My hearing's bad. Bright pink dress. Sassy music.
Very good sit spin. Fast spins compared to the earlier girls but traveled a bit.
Sorry guys, that's all I caught. Feed's terrible.
Oh, she got 42.53, her season's best. Into third place.

Another warm up.
Finland, Sweden, and a bunch of other girls.
The girl from FIN - Sophia Otala
Does anyone have a list of girls going to skate? It'll be much easier if I can find a list....oh well, I'll google.
Someone in a white top fell on her 2A. Same girl popped her 3sal or 3T.
Girl in pink dress warming up her spins, fantastic speed.

Girl in green-blue top and black skirt. Jazz (?) music. It's Cheltzie Lee from Australia.
3T-2T
Hydrant spiral
Sit spin very low
SS okay....the dancing isn't really there.
TES: 23.85
PCS: 18.92
Into second. She skated real fast.

Girl from South Korea. From the back, she totally reminds me of Caroline Zhang.
Skated to violin music, can't recognize it. Red dress, nice hair stuff.

Spirals - good leg extension
Spins - low sit spin, camel position, grabs her foot over her head. (From different sets of spins) She's Flexible.
Feed killed the rest, including the scores.
But she really, really reminds me of Caroline.

Sophia Otala, Finland
Elegent dark blue/green(?) dress
Pretty sort of music. Sounds classical.

Steps not very fast.
Only caught the layback, it's average.

Hug from coach.
TES 25.84
PCS 18.77
Total: 43.61 into 3rd

Thank you!!!

Joshi Helgesson, Sweden
Canon in D, pretty light blue dress.

3R or 3sal
Combo jump (feed jerky) - she landed it
2A - slight turn out

Spiral - regular MK spiral into side-grab bielmann, then the first spiral Sasha did from Olys'06.
Spins - sit spins are very fast and centered. Possibly the lowest sit spin I've seen since Daisuke. Camel traveled. Tried to do "I" spin, lacks flexibility.
She looked like she was enjoying her SS a lot.

Feed killed things periodically, so I put them together with the replays. Jumps and all not in exact order. Sorry.

Katherine Hadford, Hungary
Music - could be movie or classical, can't really tell.
Hot pink dress.

3sal2T
Feed killed one jump. I think it was a 3sal
2A dragged it out a bit
Spins - WOW her layback is possibly one of the best. Look at her leg! Goes into PEARL, then bielmann position. wow.
Arms remind me of Kimmie '06
SS - she's a Kimmie clone.

Total - 47.04 into first.
Feed killed everything else.

Group 8

Na-Hee Sin, Korea
Fast and happy music but her dress...orange, indigo and yellow.

Some steps
Spiral - lifts right foot with left hand
Spins - camel traveled and traveled back. Catch-foot. Her spins don't look very high-level.

-
Sarah Hecken, Germany
Dramatic overused music, dark purple dress

Fall out of first jump, she was completely off-axis
Camel, sit spin, changes foot, bend-at-waist spin I thought only men do
mk spiral into cross-grab bielmann into hydrant, poor flexibility.
On replay, she did a catch-foot spin too.

She looks stunned/disappointed.
Total: 46.12 (new SB) into third

Katarina Gerboldt, Russia
Light yellow dress, generic music.

Landed a jump, I missed the take-off.
3S, could be UR
fast layback spin, good flexibility into bielmann
Cross-grab bielmann spiral into MK spiral
TES: 24.23

I'm not going to say anything more about the feed but you know why stuff is missing. There's a fantastic tendency for the feed to freeze during scores.

-
Aneta Michalek, Poland
Dramatic music, black and gold outfit

She looks like she's trying to interpret the music...
2A not best landing
3sal touch down, falls but butt doesn't touch ice
mk spiral into cross-grab bielmann into spiral where she grabs right leg up with left hand (or vice versa) Flexibility not really there.
camel spin into sit spin
-
Miriam Ziegler, Austria
Black leotard, new age-ish music

3s fall out
elegent movement
The "grab foot in front of you as high as you can" spiral is good....she did a slutskaya bielmann spiral too
2A out of nowhere. wow.
camel spin into sit spin into bielmann variation, change foot, spin more
She did an "I" spin

Alexandra Rout, New Zealand
Very modern music, fast tempo, light green glittery dress.

3sal2t, shaking landing but she did it
flying sit spin, 2 variations
she's feeling the music
jump - missed take-off, probably 3T, landed it.
sit spin, changes foot, another sit spin variation to bend-at-waist spin
she also did a hydrant spiral

Total: 40.70 into 13th place

That's it, Caroline's group to come. Hope there's someone with a better feed??

Nishina and Zhang in next group

JMO so far:

New Zealand girl sooooo undermaarked.
Austrian girl - good all around
Germany - has the Witt approach
Korean - nice lyrical flow but so many have that. It is no longer unusual.

Joe

Warm up group 9

Someone popped 3R, not Caroline
Caroline is in a white dress with black trimmings
She warmed up her 3-3 at the far end of the rink from the camera, so I can't tell how it was, but the audience clapped.

Since you have good enough feed, why not do pbp for the next two groups?

Looks like Caroline nailed her SP. We will see how the judges place her I would say first, but that is just me.

I think it was NIshino. Zhang was really good. Not her best, I have seen her more confident before but sill light years above all the others so far..
