Ladies SP

maybe she got her loop downgraded?

could be any one of a number of things...
MAYBE her loop was downgraded
MAYBE she got lower levels than expected on her spins or spirals
MAYBE she flutzed

Oh, I wish they'd release the protocols earlier..

I think she only got level1 o2 on spiral since she said in the interview that she is disappointed about her spiral.

Yes! She is so good!

can't wait for her powerful long program! Hope she does as good!

Haha..yes, I hope she'll do well then too, and that she'll calm down a little, take her time...and maybe change her dress..;)

Congrats to Mao for fixing her Lutz!
Anyway, to be honest, I enjoyed Ashley's program the most today.

Being in1st place in the SP is enough. Good job, Mao!
If Mao skates well tomorrow, it'll be really something. Her new LP looked extremely difficult and challenging.
So far I'm so happy with the results. Mao and Nobunari

Congrats to Mao for fixing her Lutz!
Anyway, to be honest, I enjoyed Ashley's program the most today.

I am looking at the video clip with slo-mo and can't say she've fixed it yet. It's still slight inside edge at the toepick and deep inside edge at the takeoff. I would give ! to the jump.
Anyway, I am also happy that she looked recover her confidence in her program and hope her to do the same in her LP.

Wonderful overall! Congrats!!! The edge of her lutz looked questionable to me. Wish she streches a bit more in spirals and spins. Fab step sequence! thrilling towards the end! Wonderful musicality.

Ashley
Absolutely fantastic choreos that highlight the changes of the music so well!!! I also love her posture and the use of head and neck. She looks as if she were making eye contact with the audience.
Wonderful jumps!! But her entrance to lutz was so fast that I could not see if she flutzed.
Love the beautiful spirals and spins. She has nice positions. I also love the great centering and speed in her spins.
I also love the overall speed. She had great speed throughout. Fantastic performance and great, great scores!!! The way she reacted was so cute!!!

Mirai
I am sorry about her lutz combo. She landed a very nice lutz in warmup but her edge looked a bit bizarre at her SP. Her flip looked nice even though it might have been a little bit URed. I think that she had great speed throughout. I also loved her spins and spirals as always. Her circular step sequence was most interesting to watch. She danced really, really well throughout her steps that I almost forgot that she was doing a "required element." It was really fab!! I absolutely loved it!!!
I wish her PCS were higher because she performed SO WELL. She had most intricate, interesting choreos and she delivered it with a great joy! She had nice smiles, which were very playful, cute, and natural. I also love the sharpness in her moves. Her long arms and long legs underscore such sharpness.

Yukari
She missed her flip and perhaps URed her lutz. I am not sure if she did not flutz, either. I do not find the positions of her spins beautiful (except for the imppecable donut spin). But the speed and centering of the spins are really great as always.
I also found her overall skating pretty fast. I feel that her speed improved. I did not know that she was that fast and powerful.
Her spirals were good in that regard, but the bent legs and upper body position are underwhelming. I also always find her step sequence underwhelming. Her basic skating skills and edges quality do not seem to be as great as some other top skaters'.
I like this music. I also like this costume. Somehow, it looks a bit boring to me. I wish if this program had some highlights. It looks very nice and pretty but monotonic at the same time. Her forced smile put on her face throughout her performance also accentuates this monotonic impression. But I still think this program nice and pretty.

Laura
I really like her skating skills. Very smooth and beautiful. I also think that she has really a good posture. When she went into 2A, she looked completely straight in the air.
Although I do not find the positions of her spins very beautiful, the centering and speed looked nice.
She also danced well.
But I did not like the curtsies/bows of hers. Looked brusque. I wonder if she always does that in that way. I have found her skating so pretty, clean, pleasant, and nice that it was rather dissapointing to see them after the performance.

Mao
She looked so anxious and worried that her face almost looked scary. I felt nervous, too. But I am very happy that she finally had a clean progam.
Her 3F-3L looked just great even though it may have been a bit URed. It had great height and the revolution was so fast in the air. I also found her lutz and 2A out of a spread eagle great.
She had great trouble with her spirals.
Her step sequence looked very nice especially in the beginning, but not so much at the end.
I find the positions of her spins underwhelming.
I was so excited when I first heard that she was going to skate to this music, but somehow when she ends the performance, I feel "Already? That's it?" I felt so at both TEB and NHK. I do not think it Mao's faults. Rather, I feel that something is missing in the way it was choreographed.

Yes, you are right! And with regards to her 3-3 on slo-mo, the second triple has been under-rotated surely. But in an interview article she confessed that she should get about 70 points with her SP! It seems for her to be so sad that she has got only 64 points, even though she has completed her SP more or less clean! Good luck to Mao in FS competition tomorrow with two 3A!

No, I think what she meant was she would rate her performance 70 on the 0 - 100 scale, but was not saying that she should have scored 70 on the CoP. The media always ask the skaters to rate their performances for themselves and if the skater says "80 points," it means that he/she delivered 80% of his/her potential.
