Ladies SP

Oh, imagine how more bitchy this thread will become when the Mao Yu-Na bots come... I'm afraid...

(however, I do agree US ladies were so gifted)

What, shouldn't be THAT high. she probably got tons of goe like yu-na.

Joannie displayed better flow, extension, and transitions than Miki did. I think the scoring is correct! Her attention to the details was much better I think. Remember, both were credited with 3+2 combination.

Not to mention they already got 10 extra seconds when Michelle Kwan did it in the past decade.

I blame the rules for step sequence levels. Allowing retrogression makes skaters/choreographers want to cram as much crap into the footwork passes as possible.

Fumie actually started her spiral earlier than the music, so I believe she had to slow down during the footwork to stay on time.

ParticleMan, you're not asking a dumb question. I guess they could choreograph 1 sec less but I'd assume that it's the spins or the footwork that can really eat up your time if you're not well paced.

Thanks everyone .. all because my hubby wanted to sit out on the patio tonight! (it's a lovely spring day here and the first chance after a long winter!).

Maybe people are right enough about the gifts for home advantage. As much as i would hope it was never the case well the americans are getting the gifts tonight and well certainly at 4cc Canadian's got great marks. Even at Euros it seems to help the Finnish. I just wish it was judged correctly.

Two spots for US-Ladies are secured - I doubt that Flatt will fall out of the Top Ten tomorrow.

Joannie has a mentality of winner this season. Good job!!
Rachel's spins looked improved.

I'm a bit surprised at Fumie's score being as close to Meier's; I'd have her more a clear 2nd

I would not. Fumie's program was quite boring...

Miki has been getting dinged for her Lutz-combo all season, regardless of how high she jumps. I didn't get to see it but from what I understand, the trend is that loops in 3-3 are more likely to be underrotated than toe loops. Go figure.

I forgot which competition it was, but there was one time Miki did a 3-3 and it looked as clean as can be, but still got a "<". I have a suspicion that callers will just assume more often than not it's UR and tack on "<" to skaters like Miki no matter how clean their jumps are.

Sometimes I don't even think you guys pay attention to whats going on. Miki lost about 4pt an the UR and about 5 if you include +GOE. Rachael,Fummie(iffy edges), and Mier would have been tied if it wasn't for the time deduction. Miki should have went for the double because she been downgraded all year. It wasn't gutsy. It was bad strategy.

I don't want to think what they might've sold for these results...probably the ice dance title.
Foolish of them. Bargaining a big gain in a discipline we're actually good in these days for a feeble two spots in one we're not.

Uh, yes it probably was GOEs. Joannie had a a backwards spiral coming out of the 2A. Not to mention, GOEs come in the form of air time. Joannie's jumps (save the 2T) were huge, especially her lutz! Her spins were more faster and controlled than I remember them to be earlier in the season.

As much as I want 2 spots for US ladies next season...I want Alissa to skate a great long and have better results. *stubborn*

Here loop look UR in real time for me. The commentators even spotted it right when she did it.

This competition has been full of surprises. I'm glad that my favorite skaters are getting high scores but they are certainly much higher than I expected. I can no longer think what's fair...

I don't deny that. But the overall scores here seem inflated as well.
I swear Yuna/Mao will be hitting 75 if they go clean.
