Cool flags!

Wow, how nice it was to just watch some great skating. Yu - Na & Joannie were fantastic and confident.

I thought Rachael was the most improved skater of the night. Everything was perfect. The make up was beautiful. The dress was very flattering for her figure. But I loved the program. She seems to have made a lot of changes. I hated that program at Nationals. She looked brand new. Too bad about the flip. She would have been in the final group for sure.

Another bad program for Alissa. Poor thing! Maybe she can skate with peace now. She really looked like she was about to break down and cry in her interview. Eventhough she is an older girl this is just her second worlds. We watched Joannie have some not so good performances over the years, but look at her now. Experience is the best teacher.

Alissa is a skater who does not enjoy the spotlight. I think she would be more comfortable being the second or third American. Go Alissa!

Also loved the little Russian girl.. How wonderful to skate with no pressure.

o: These two are up there on my list of favorite coach - student partnerships.

Everyone's saying Joannie is the dark horse. I think of her more as a real contender now. To me, the real dark horse is MIKI! She could really end up on that podium tomorrow!

I'm hoping Miki will do her quad and hopefully get it ratified. The girl deserves props when it's due.

It looked like Mao was trying so hard to hold that Lutz edge that it threw her timng off. Maybe she should substitute a differerent jump (like a 3 Axel :) )

On Oxygen after she skated Andrea Joyce interviewed Alissa, Rachael, Joannie, YuNa. Not at the same time of course.

Ah, I see. I was watching through the Universal Sports feed as I don't have Oxygen Channel (or cable for that matter). U.S. just carried the raw, live feed from the event.

Well.... Andrea Joyce certainly has a talent for making athlete's break out in tears. She just doesn't know how to conduct an interview or rather, cut it off or no do one.

Shallow thoughts - Brian looks like he's put on a few pounds, dyed his hair, and lost the wedding ring he used to wear. Still love, luv him.

And is Nikolai married AGAIN???

After watching her interview Alicia Sacramone after the Beijing team final, I wouldn't underestimate her ability at all. She just didn't know when to MOVE ON. Suddenly Peter C. didn't seem so bad after all. :banging:

My thoughts on this in no particular order - Yuna was just incredible! I thought she looked nervous going out there but she pulled everything off amazingly. I saw no sign of a lip whatsoever, Chris Howarth didn't either.

Joannie also skated lights out i was really impressed with her program. She really slowed down on the spins getting into diificult positions but other than that she was fantastic.

Mao - Look forward to seeing the protocol because the 3F+3LP looked rotated to me. I agree with MM she was holding onto that outside edge she delayed the pick a bit and it threw her off, otherwise great and she'll surely come out fighting tomorrow to give us a good show.

Miki - i thought she was amazing too - looked like nearly a half turn short on the landing of the loop but other than that i loved the program, thought it was expressive and beautiful. Go for the quad tomorrow miki!

Carolina it was a shame about the errors - commentator Simon sounded really frustrated with her hand down and errors, Chris had to calm him down.

Thought both Flatt and Czisny were hugely overmarked. Czisny should be buried around 20th - i'd be interested to see if the flip was under-rotated because it looked clearly under-rotated to me, but something must have held her up with those two falls. Unbelievable that she was ahead of Phaneuf.

Flatt was exactly that - and the error i feel extremely sorry for Fumie who should be above Flatt. Chris Howarth called in right when he said Flatt should have placed behind Glebova.

Yu-Na, clear winner here, impressive attack... but I really hope she doesn't score wayyyy above 70, she's not head and shoulders dominant on all elements of skating....

76.12... ehhh

I mean bravo for a great skate with great attack, but come on....

I'm glad to know I am not the only one. She might be good, but leading by almost 10 points!!! We might as well not watch the LP--well then again, the battle for silver and bronze might be good.

I agree, but so was everyone else. No "was-robbed" to talk about here, none.

I think the marks were high and as someone pointed out were surprising the skaters but Suguri and Phaneuf have definitely been robbed by Flatt and Czisny.

Andrea Joyce knows what Alicia can do since she's only interviewed and watched her perform since her official breakout year in 2005.

Peter C better?......Frightening thought, isn't it?

I honestly don't understand how you can stand there and force an interview out of an upset athlete. Hey, I have no problem making people cry if they were being a total douche and rightfully deserve it. However, in these situations, do you really need to humiliate them by expecting to explain themselves?

Kimmie had every right to say those things in her blog, that tweaked a couple of people. This is one of those instances where reporters shouldn't even hold an interview.

I just saw Yu-na's SP on Youtube. I still think Yu-na could be fitter; she's carrying around extra flesh on her delicate frame and it makes her look not so elegant. I didn't think her performance was much different than at 4CC except that her step sequences were the best out of all her skates to this music. I think she's finally skating the steps sequences the way her choreographer visualized it and intended for her. IMHO, I think that's why she got that extra 3-4 points on top of 72-3 (what should have been). Her layback positions are unfortunate though.

Carolina Kostner and Mao Asada are fitter than ever and I wonder why Brian Orser is letting Yu-na go backwards.

They were training less to have her peak here. I'm no fan of Yuna, BUT lay off commenting on her body. She only appears to be "wider" but in real life, she's still rather petite.
