Madison Chock & Evan Bates

I still think their Snake free dance was their best ever a real classic.
It's wonderful! I just sent it to a friend at work that I'm "educating" before the Olympics. We are going to watch together (virtually) and cheer for them. I love all the free dances, but I think Wind & Fire is my favorite. I have had full body chills while watching, and the ability these two have to transport me to another world of their own making is beyond compare.

The NBC video of the Snake free dance now has been viewed more than 4 million times! What makes me especially happy is that people are still discovering and commenting on the dance more than six years later. Madi and Evan gave ice dance a wonderful gift when they gave us that program.
:love2::clap:

Congratulations to Madi & Evan on back to back Team Gold! Both times their contributions were essential. I'm especially happy about the SBs in both programs. The day of the rhythm dance, I was complaining to my sister about the rhythm dances this season. Well, Madi & Evan's rhythm dances are usually my favorite but I was so impressed with their performance in Team. The signature "sparkle" is just something that I don't see in anyone else, even though many ice dancers have qualities that I can appreciate. I like the new RD dress more than the zebra stripes, and I think the return of the red skirt lining for the FD dress was a good choice as well.

I'm a bit surprised and concerned about Madi & Evan competing so many times in a few days, but maybe I underestimated how much the gold team medal means to them, or how well prepared they are. I will just have to trust them. Hopefully their positive momentum will carry them to another gold!

I also feel some concern but one other thing is that it did let them build momentum. I think the judges pretty clearly indicated to them now that the individual gold medal is theirs to lose so we just have to hope they can skate cleanly tonight and Wednesday.

Wind and Fire is my favorite too

I hope that, in the fullness of time, the mixed feelings they have will slowly become more positive. They deserve to feel happy with their performance (one of the best I've ever seen him give) and with their careers, though it is very sad that they were not quite able to cap it off like they hoped. Realistically though, if you told any 10 year old skater in the entire world that they'd go to 4/5 Olympic games, finishing 4th and 2nd at two of them, have 6 world medals including 3 golds, 7 gpf medals including 3 golds, have 14 consecutive US Championship Medals including 7 gold medals 5 of which were consecutive, would medal at all 8 4CC they went to including 3 gold, and have too many GP medals to count, that skater would absolutely and immediately expire of happiness. They have so much to be proud of.

On a personal note I first saw them live in 2014 when they skater Les Mis. Before that they hadn't impressed me but when I saw them live I knew I'd been wrong and they were something incredibly special. It's given me A LOT of joy to watch them and I'm grateful they were able to keep competing for so long and give so much to the sport. I will very much miss them.
