Madison Chock & Evan Bates

I'm glad about this move. I feel strongly that their skating will improve technically and artistically. I've been studying the Montreal coaches' choreographic style and, I feel that it will suit this pair's skating well. Again, I hope the coaches will steer them to music that complements their temperament and skills.

When I heard about the news last night - and it was confirmed - I thought of you and how do you feel about the move as I consider You as one of strongest Madison/Evan supporters here:):):)

I still don't know how to feel about the move as I've never pictured them in Montreal school, but yes about changing environment and recharging energy while they have desire to continue competing. I just hope that Gadbois will elevate and facilitate their personal style of partnering and bold presence on ice I've become an enthusiast of. And yes about music to be chosen in complimentary spirit of their skills and characters, especially RD being Tango-themed. Nothing but the best for them and speedy recovery for Madison!

While in Orlando, Madi and Evan went to Disneyworld. Can't believe this photo Madi posted on her insty story of her and Evan riding a rollercoaster. It would be a hard sell to get me on that thing under normal circumstances. I'm impressed that Madi rode it despite an ankle boot.

Madi and Evan will be doing a live cooking show on US Figure Skating’s Facebook this evening at 8 pm ET. They also will be taking questions live. It might be a good way to get some updates from them.

It really was a great interview. It was good to know that they are aware that despite the fall in the Olympics, that their FD connected with many people this season.

They had put so much into it:
"It means a lot to us,” Chock added. “We take things to heart when we watch the news. It’s just so heart breaking to see all the tragedy that happens all over the world, so this programme is a beacon of hope not just for us, but hopefully for other people.

“We thought it was the perfect opportunity to say something and voice how we feel as something that we really connect to as dancers and artists. We just wanted to share that.”

And

So Maddy had problems all season.

Chock and Bates had a challenging start to their season when Chock had bone fragments chip off her right ankle in August 2017

I so hope the surgery will be successful!

Happy Birthday, Madison! :hb:

They are my favorite ice dance team. I wish them both health, happiness and success in the upcoming season. :cheer:

THis month's International Figure Skating magazine has a nice interview with Maddy and Evan.

Nothing earth shaking, but these items are new:

They are planning to stay in through the next Olympics.

Madison was advised to have her ankle surgery for the loose bone fragments after Champ' s Camp last summer, but the the team did not want to miss the Olympic season. They coped with half size training sessions and cortisone shots.

The surgery was a success. She expects to resume skating in July.

The team will not relocate to Montreal until after her surgeons clear it.

They missed the days when Igor and Marina were together and that huge group of talented dancers were together on the ice every day. It challenged them.

Hence Montreal.

And

It is not just that we can get a medal of a certain color, but if we skate four more years, can we be better skaters? I really think we can be.

Nice article. Glad to hear that they are in for four more years. Poor Maddie skating with that
injury last season takes a lot of guts. I am glad her surgery was successful. I suspect she
has been battling that injury for a couple of seasons. It will be great to see them back
in top form and standing on the podium.

Happy Belated Birthday to Maddie! :hb:

Anybody know what is happening in Montreal? Have Chock and Bates shown up and how are they looking?

Looks like Madi and Evan are in Montreal. Samuel Chouinard’s Instagram story has a brief clip of what appears to be their SD choreography. Off ice.

I just updated their OP! In the search I did, as part of that update, the only news I found since their move to Montreal was their 2018-19 GP assignments.

Please check out their OP! There is a lot of new stuff in there. If there are any corrections or additions needed, please tell me about it here!

They were creating programs with Sam Chouinard, Scott Moir and others at Gadbois today. ;)

With Madison coming back from her surgery it's taken longer than usual for them to get on ice work going.
