Maia Shibutani & Alex Shibutani

So impressed to see almost minute+ video pulled together. That takes a TON of effort to edit. I've had to do similar tasks professionally and can't tell you how impressed I am by how well Maia and Alex pull these off. The range of footage, the music coordination, storyline coordination, etc. Like their programs, keeps your interest and smartly designed.

One of my favorite moments had to be Stolbova doing what she does best. Smoldering ;)

Best vlog so far! I hope they can make more like this one, although I know it must be hard to put much mental energy towards a vlog while you're competing.

I am amazed they got that much footage. I agree with Celine that a lot of planning went into it. They definitely had to have somebody film THEM doing stuff and the other activities. It's not something you can figure out on the spot.

TSL mentioned in their 2016 Worlds recap that they interviewed the Shibs at Figure Skating in Harlem. Dave Lease said Alex wouldn't say if they are doing hip-hop or even who will choreograph next season. Jenny Kirk says she loves them and that Maia and Alex are the sweetest people. Shibs were asked if they were nervous to skate last at Worlds, but they owned it and were very proud to have skated last.

I can actually see where they could put the non-touching step sequence, if they choose to put it in the song part of the dance:
I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king
I've been up and down and over and out and I know one thing
I am so excited to see what they come up with!

"That's Life" such a great choice for the Blues section.
If they can match it with a great swing piece, they are set for a great SD next season.

In response to the above post, I checked the rules- the no touch sequence has to be performed in the swing or hip hop rhythms.
The partial step sequence has to be the blues rhythm.

Good music choice! I like how Shibs announce their music early. Also that means they always think ahead & that's a good approach!

Happy 25th Birthday, Alex! :party2: :hb: :dance3:

Words cannot express how excited I am that the Shibs are doing a program to Frank Sinatra.....:yahoo:

I can already picture it. A fresh song for two young dancers who take life in their stride. Their time has well and truly come. Yeah, there were a lot of lovely pics yesterday for Alex's birthday. Straight away something to look forward to, it eases the post-season pain a bit. :hap10:

If someone in here is using Snapchat, but not following ShibSibs, I highly recommend doing so, they are hilarious. :p

They do a lot of Snapchat, and not just for their account. They pretty regularly ''takeover" the Snapchat accounts for NBCOlympic, NBCsports and USOlympic, normally pretty staid accounts but when they run it, it's always pretty hilarious. Takes some creativity, personality and diligence. All qualities the ShibSibs have in spades.

Something else cool, Maia and Alex are in LA and attended a taping of Dancing with the Stars last night. They were seated in the front row, right next to the judges' table :cool14:.

Maia looking lovely (as usual) while heading to DWTS:
