Maia Shibutani & Alex Shibutani

The Shibs were just interviewed on the Sounds Good podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/sounds-good-branden-harvey/id1080864041?mt=2&i=365734537. I hope the iTunes link works for everyone.

I greatly enjoyed listening to this as I was on the elliptical at the gym today. This was a great view of the Shibs as people!

A classic example of why the Shibs drew me into skating. I was not a huge skating or ice dance fan until I came across them on social media. There is something undeniably special and unique about them as PEOPLE. It's clear that they are not like every ice dance team that has before them, and they are creating their own journey and path, and it is happening beautifully and with wonderful timing, and skating fans are finally starting to enjoy drinking it all in.

But to the outside world, they are already and increasingly being recognized for being really unique and phenomenal people. They are smart (every time they open their mouths, post a tweet, etc.) generous (with fans), and kind (they apparently instigated the plan to have fan gifts that skaters cannot bring home with them, to be delivered to Boston Children's hospital).

Branden Harvey is a rising star in the social media world. Adorably positive outlook on people and life. He was asked to chronicle the Pope's 2015 visit to the US on social media. When you look through the ShibSibs "folio" there are artists and musicians and photographers and dancers and really just so many creative people who they engage with and who reach out to them. As they continue to grow their profile BEYOND just the skating world, that can ONLY be a good thing for the skating world in my opinion.

As is apparent, I love following their story and their partnership. Both on and off the ice. When you see such positive forces in the world, it just makes one (me especially) want good things to come their way in return.

Aww Celine, thank you so much for that post :) I totally agree with you.
Such lovely reading in this "keeping-it-real snark-is-refreshing" world :agree:

Maia and Alex are first in the last group for the SD. I know skaters don't generally love first or last but I'm hoping that by this time of the season, the judges are well aware of what they are looking at and are ready to judge what they see. I'm hoping that Coppelia gets a high score and keeps them in the top 3. Fingers crossed!!

Does anyone know if the dance will be aired tomorrow? I don't have television but do have access to one for hours tomorrow but not having a TV means that I don't have any idea what channels to check? I really want to see this instead of waiting it out until youtube. (Plus I've never actually seen skating on TV as it occurred thanks to not having one).

Thanks! So hopeful they get out there and get a nice lead tomorrow. I know Coppelia has not been as well liked as Fix You but I love it almost as much and can't wait to see it again.

I think CBC and B.ESP will air the SD tomorrow. I'm sure about CBC, but not B.ESP

Cbc is showing dance on tv between 2-4pm, eastern time, wednesday. Thay are livestreaming from1045am too.

In the US, the short dance is live on NBCSN noon to 3:30 ET. The Shibs are on at 2:40.

Thanks everyone. Now I just have to figure out if my mom has the right channels. This TV stuff gets confusing; I haven't had it in 12 years and so just finding a channel can be interesting. Everything changed since I had TV last. But there's always Youtube if nothing else.

14 more hours!

ALL THE BEST TO SHIBSIBS! Leave the audience as fixed on you as you did with your 'Fix you' on me! :hap10::love: :cheer:

New SB and comfortable 4 point lead at this point!! Chock/Bates SB is .01 better than their score though. Nail biting......

They are ahead of C/B by over 2 points. W/P next; they'd have to top SB by 2 points to reach Shibs.

(I hope this isn't annoying, I just am able to check scores and I know not everyone can and someone is probably waiting as I would be).

So happy for the Shibs! They are really doing well this year. As I have said before, wasn't a fan in the past, at all, but love their programs this year.

They are skating last tomorrow, closing the event!
Impossible to imagine a more emotional outcome. Everyone is definitely going to have an extra electric and powerful moment tomorrow. Can't wait!

Is last considered good? I know skaters don't like to be too early in the group but is too late bad also? It seems to me that last would be perfect, especially with their program and the emotional response it gets (and nobody is coming afterward so no need to withhold any points) but I didn't know if last tends to be bad in any way.

I think it's definitely a great spot. Their FS is so wonderful and the audience always gets behind it, skating at home and last? The arena will fall apart! The only possible worrying point I see is that they're skating right after Gabriella and Guillaume so they will really have to bring it. But They've had wonderful performances this season so I don't doubt them

I really hope so. I'm already impatient and anxious for the FD. Tomorrow is going to be a long day waiting for that final group. I can't wait! I don't know how they stand it.

I hope they know how many positive thoughts are coming their way and that Alex's love of Boston has a good reason to grow tomorrow night.

The Shibs' SD was my favorite! Everything was so confident. That twizzle sequence.....:jaw:

Here's a beautiful photo of the Shibs that Golden Skate just posted on Twitter.

Sending good thoughts to the Shibs for the FD tomorrow!
