Mao Asada

Haha guys, did you watch World Team Trophy? No wonder Mao retired, and I am GLAD she retired now, because she, too, realized the nonsense and foolishness of the scoring rationale of the ever-stupid ISU and she can't take no more of it. ISU doesn't deserve Mao, same for those who defend for ISU.

If anyone was watching WTT: when Mai finished her FS and was waiting for scores at K&C, team Japan held up a pink poster saying:'Mao-chan, thank you!'. It was a poster with messages from skaters and coaches to Mao. The idea is from Team Japan's captain, Kana Muramoto. Kana says: 'the FS world wouldn't have been where it is right now, if there were no Mao.'

It's the sweetest gestures from skaters and coaches at WTT!

(I saw that coaches including Mihoko Higuchi, and Rafael Arutyunyan have left messages for Mao.)

News (in Japanese): https://www.daily.co.jp/general/2017/04/22/0010120811.shtml

In the news, it says the poster will be passed on to Mao in the future!

That is very sweet, but they probably took the idea from Kaitlyn, who did it 1 day before https://www.instagram.com/p/BTJRaVWF3UO/?tagged=kaitlynweaver

I saw that poster today, but thought it was a fan's. So it turned out to be team Japan's token of appreciation for Mao.
Who took the idea from whom is not important. Paying homage to someone who inspire you with a white board or a poster is nothing original, but it's sweet.

Here is the most recent photo of Mao from April 24th from a recent CM appearance in Nagoya. The article also says that Mao was awarded a Aichi Prefecture People's Honor Award.

In another article at the CM appearance, Mao said," "I could make this kind of start in Nagoya and I am feeling new," and showed a refreshing look. .

As for her future activities, "Since I myself walked with skating, I really appreciate it, so I think that it would be good if I could repay it in a different way. I like children and I would like to tell small children if there is an opportunity "She said about her future hope.

Furthermore, she said that it is a pleasure to be honored as Aichi Prefecture's Prefectural People's Honor Award, "I am glad that it is possible to receive a prestigious prize and I am honored."

There is a video and text of Mao's comments at this link: http://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20170424/k10010959461000.html

Good to hear from you again yhmafan. Thanks for the translation. I knew that Yuzuru had given a beautiful tribute to Mao. Here is a good photo of Mao's beautiful autograph on the left next to Kanako's on perhaps some ceramics from earlier this year.

yhmafan, i've missed you! All last week I was wondering where you were :ghug:

Thank you :thank: Nice to see you guys again. :ghug:

This is so touching. Mao and Pulshenko, (both of them are four-time GPF champions and three-time Four Continents champions and Silver medalists at 2010 Olympic.)

Thank you legends! You will be deeply missed!!

Here are a couple of videos of a ceremony wishing Mao well and receiving a boquet of flowers as she leaves from the airport for Canada to prepare her programs for The Ice this summer. Marvelously Magnetic Mao attracts photographers wherever she goes.

I can't wait to see her new exhibition program / programs and old favorites this summer.
