Mao Asada

I really miss Mao! I have been watching a lot of her programs lately, I wish she would have stayed a little longer!
 
I too really miss her skating. As time passes, it becomes more obvious how special she was/is as a skater. You just don’t see the same beautiful qualities she possessed in skating anymore.

I am glad she is finally free of the system and can skate simply for the joy of skating without pressure. :)
 
Mao's most watched Sochi LP video in Japanese and the 2 most watched youtube videos in English have all been removed in the last couple of days as of March 28 and 29, 2018 with the most praise for Mao and the most condemnation of the scoring system. The IOC posted that they had forced the one in Japanese to be removed with close to 3 million views which was posted when Mao retired, but interestingly they have now removed that notification from the old link. It is the only one I had a prior link to. This followed a similar pattern of removing Mao's most watched Sochi LP video in 2016 once it reached about 3 million views, and the removal of another one with well over a million in 2014, while some other women skaters in Sochi have not had their most watched and commented on videos removed. It shows that even almost a year after her retirement, the ISU and IOC intent on working to create fraudulent view counts just as they fixed heavily deflated scores for Mao and provides further evidence how intent they were on this devious process which makes a farce out of the system. As the Roman historian Tacitus said almost 2000 years ago, "The more corrupt the state, the more numerous the laws." The ISU has selectively misused Copyright laws just as they did with ur and edge rules and GOE to fabricate scores and view counts with PCS based blatant favoritism estranged and often even contradictory to the stated guidelines when it comes to Mao: an elaborate smoke screen and facade for unjust manipulation. Some have said the IOC has the right to remove the videos, but it is Mao's legendary performance specially targeted for removal, just as she was specially selected for heavily deflated scores and it is only the ones with high view counts and the most praise for Mao and the most criticism of the system that have been removed.

So unfortunate. I remember the Japanese one reaching well over two million views and it was released less than a year since her retirement. I wonder if the recent release of her Bluray/DVD set has something to do with the removal of the Japanese version. I do think Japanese companies are much stricter with enforcing copyright rights and removing videos on youtube. Perhaps the company that produces her Bluray set found the video and then notified IOC of it. The English ones probably just appeared when they did the search for the Japanese version and they removed those as well. Of course this is mere speculation but I won't be surprised if the truth was not far off from it. I wish IOC would add her Sochi performance on their official youtube site, instead of simply removing it. It did not get a medal but it is clearly resonating with millions of fans. Or maybe JSF can have their own official youtube site and add all of the great performances from Japanese skaters in HD quality. It would be great if we could have an official version on youtube so it won't run the risk of removal once it reaches a high view count.

Though the translation is difficult to understand, Mao has evidently said that she would like to visit the mountains after she does her skating tour around Japan. The Mao Asada exhibition tour will be in Nagoya from April 18 - 30.

According to one article, Mao's exhibition starts in Niigata on May 3, around Nagano, Hokkaido, Ibaraki and another 10 cities nationwide until November. At the same time as the announcement, inquiries were rushed to Niigata Shoten TV which hosts the first performances.

Meanwhile, I am upset by the fact that Mao's two most watched videos of Madame Butterfly at Worlds 2016 have been recently removed along with her most watched video from her Cup of China SP 2015, her most watched Japan Open video of Madame Butterfly and her most watched video of her Vancouver SP, while other skaters have not had theirs removed, while so many comments praising Mao's performance and criticizing the scores have again been removed in a selective act of censorship. It fits a continuing pattern of the huge elephant in the room of rampant manipulation in the system in relation to Mao and shows how much injustice she has had to endure even in retirement. The IOC has posted messages saying they have forced Mao's most watched videos to be removed before.

Did the IOC ever say why they force Mao's most watched videos to be removed? It doesn't make any sense. She's not a threat to them or anyone else!

Mao's spiral sequences were so beautiful :luv17:. Bells of Moscow may not have been my favorite Mao program, but that spiral sequence is my absolute favorite of all time.
 
Many fans love Mao’s step sequences but I think her spiral sequences and later choreographic sequences are equally wonderful. :luv17:

My favorite spiral sequence would have to be the one in the original Nocturne. It was just perfection.

I love her choreographic sequences in Madame Butterfly and Ritual Dance LP.
