I don't care what Mao decides, as long as she's happy...but the wait is killing me!!!! I need to know!
so Liza already did the 3a. I wonder when and who will do a truly great step sequence at Mao's level. This season I dont remember any step sequence, you know, it when you can see a clear climax of the program and not just another obligatory element.

I really love Caprice, Smile and Mary Poppins too yhma fan, especially Caprice. Here is Mao's Caprice and Bells of Moscow Encore from 2009 Japan National Championships. How I miss Mao's dance steps, spirals and spins, passion and elegance, in addition to her jumps.

There is a great translation by rosewood of Mao's interview with Midori Ito at the following link:

Here is also a link to the April 20th radio show that the interview appeared on, posted by NMURA:

( Many thanks to rosewood)rosewood said:Midori: Basically Midori Ito had only jumps in my skating. If I were cute, lovely, an angel, like Mao-chan, I might not do such difficult jumps.
In those days, skaters were expected total packages. Even without doing difficult jumps, it could be OK. But what I wanted to show was my skills.
If I was asked what I wanted to show to the world, it was my 3A and five different triples. That gave me great motivations.![]()
Making it or not, going to the competitions to show big tricks gave me great energy. With those thoughts in my mind I skated the programs.
Mao: Maybe you had times when you didn't feel like skating. What gave you the motivations up to today?
Midori: Basically I LOVE skating. I enjoy myself during skating. Maybe you have lots of considerations on your path to take in your life, Mao-chan.
There are things that can be done ONLY NOW. In the environment that is given NOW, by listening to the voice of your mind NOW, if you feel you want to compete or you want to go for it, I think you'd better to continue.
If the things are opposite, you don't feel like competing and you prefer to skate a different path, it would be good. By considering everything given in the environment of today, follow the voice of your heart. Go on the path which your mind prefer to take.
It must be the best way. (my note: some editions are done on the tape, I'm not sure what we're listening to has the same nuances as the audience felt at the venue.) But there are things which can be done now.

Here is a news clip of Mao's interview with Midori. It's wonderful to see so much warmth between two people. They are both radiant together. true soul mates.

I like the words you quoted as well yhma fan because it seems that Midori is encouraging Mao to continue probably because she had a comeback too after several years off which she talked about in the interview. I noticed how many times Midori repeated the words, There are things you can do only NOW and how she said if would be better to continue, if you want to compete but only good, if she wants to skate a different path. I still think Midori's incredible triple axel near the end of her 1992 Olympic LP after falling on it early in the program was one of the gutsiest and most wonderfully surprising moments in the Olympics. I'm sure it was an early lesson for Mao on the power of fighting back, which Mao did so well.
I really love Mao's mysterious response: Mao: I see. I learned things which can be done only now are things to be done, also I learned choosing a path in which I do not leave regrets is important.
Mao is so wonderful at building suspense in and out of the rink.

According to Mrs Kobayashi’s (The director of JSF) words, we will find out about Mao’s athletic career in May. My heart throbs.

In May? Why has it been set in May? Maybe Mao is not decided yet and said that by May, she'll know exactly what to do and say. We can only wait for now...According to Mrs Kobayashi’s (The director of JSF) words, we will find out about Mao’s athletic career in May. My heart throbs.
