Mao Asada

as Mao is my favourite lady among all GPF contestants, I wish her lots of calm and confidence. Hope she's healthy or healthier than NHK and that she'll enjoy skating in Barcelona and give us that joy as her fans.

I hope we will be able to witness 2 amazing performances from her, filled with passion and emotions. And that beautiful smile and ballerina-like presence.

Go Maoooo - for all who are in Barcelona, please cheer for her from me loudly!!!:cheer:

10yrs ago, Mao Asada skated to her 1st GPF title. That was the first time I saw her compete and won me over. This weekend, I just want to see her skate freely like how she skated a decade ago. I wanna see her beaming smile again. That's what made me a fan in the first place. The scores and ranking don't matter anymore... I want her to trust in her training more and not worry about her jumps too much. We know she CAN do it.

真央ちゃん、頑張れ!♥♥♥

Mao says her condition is 'so-so'. She also says she'll do her best with whatever she can.

Mao in 2005-06 GP season...I think that's also when I started to pay attention to Mao and her skating. And it's such a pleasure to follow her throughout these years

I hope Mao is feeling better and that she can get great joy and satisfaction from her performances. All the best, Mao, I am pulling for you!

We arrived in Barclelona this evening, checked into the (official) hotel, and from our 16th floor room, I noticed a "flock" of figure skate fans following someone from the rink, far below. Used my camera to zoom in and see who they were following, and although I couldn't see the skater's face, and they wore nothing distinctive... I was somehow able to recognise immediately that it was Mao. She was patiently posing for photos etc with her fans.

A little while later, we took the lift down to the lobby, thinking of aperitifs at the bar before dinner... and as we came out of the lift... there was Mao, no more than 2 feet away, waiting to get in the lift. She was smiling and seemed happy and relaxed, despite "running the gauntlet" back from the rink, and so much "fan service."

She is beautiful...! More so than you can appreciate from photos or video... because if you see her in person, up close, there is an atmosphere, an aura around her... a silent charisma that is all her own. She has her own unique kind of beauty.

A brief, but magical moment...

Thank you so much for sharing your magical experience with Mao.

Here's Mao beautiful triple axel at today's training https://twitter.com/marikoby26/status/674637297975844864

Sad that it's still no information about other jumps :scratch2:

Cherry posted her recap on what she saw at practice:

Ok, I did some notes on the men's and ladies' practice, here it goes :D

LADIES
Evgenia was killing it. She did a run through of long program with two 3-3-3 and 2A-3T. I think she might have fallen once during the run-through but the rest was clean. In general she looked very solid, did fall a few times but still was spot on most of the time.

Gracie also did a run through of the long, the only mistake was on the 3S, rest was clean. She's on fire! Practiced 3Lz a lot, hit most of it along with 3Lz-3T.

Mao did a run thorugh of the long to the music without jumps, as she was the first one. Later on she practiced entire SP where she hit a 3A and 3F-3L but doubled the lutz. In general she had troubles with the lutz today because it seemed like she really wanted it to be on the outside edge so she singled or doubled many attempts, but the where she performed 3 revolutions were landed nicely, definitely not e, maybe (probably) !. She hit a few 3A (3 or 4) but she also had some troubles with it at the beginning. Her 3F-3L looks really good, I would say it's fully rotated. She hit it most of the time. She also landed all the 2A-3T attempts BUT I think the 3T could have been <.

Mao-chan ganbare!!!!!

I can't believe I'm going to see her live on Friday, I'm so excited! Any news on how she's feeling after the first official practice?
