Mao Asada

Hey the domain name for Mao's forum has expired.
The person who manages that is on this forum (I don't remember the username, but it's in this thread the same time last year and the year before), so perhaps someone can relay the message that the domain needs to be renewed as soon as possible.

Current location has reverted back to the host subdomain: http://maoasada.logu2.com/

I'm the one in charge of renewing the domain!

Unfortunately, at the moment I don't have the money to pay for another year :( My house was on fire recently, and while luckily no one was hurt and the damages weren't too big, it still hit our wallet pretty hard. This is how lovely my room looks ATM ( http://imgur.com/4A2xIkA <- sooty walls, hastily fixed cracks in the wall).

I'll do my best to renew it ASAP, though! I'll have some free time in the upcoming week, so maybe I'll do some commissions or something :) The name is still "reserved" for the forum at the moment, hopefully nobody will snatch it until I collected enough $$$

Mao has a new CM for ECC English Languag schools in which she thanks her fans for supporting her and wishes everyone Happy New Year. I think this is what she said because I got the translation through google. I don't have to access to youtube at the moment, so I am not sure if there is a video of the CM there or not.

I posted them just above your previous post.

Just started following figure skating and I've been binging on Mao's videos lately!

Her skating is absolutely beautiful to watch but after reading some Youtube comments and then doing a bit of research, I have been left with the impression that the chance of Mao getting to skate in oly is rather slim, if any--considering how she had been doing in major competitions in the past two years and the fact that she didn't even make it to top 6 in the Nationals this year and (therefore) was not selected to the Worlds. The following article by Daisuke Takahashi just deepens that impression for me.

I really hope I'm wrong about that though :(

Hello, welcome :). It is true but she was not training at 100% because she was injured. The last news she was feeling better. Plus Mao is not so predictable. Did you see her sp and lp at olympics 2014 in Sochi?, she has surprised us more than once.

And even if she does not make the olympics, we can enjoy her skating in other competitions next season. Olympics are overrated :p.

I agree about the Olympics being overrated and they have been unfair in scoring Mao just as Mao's Worlds 2016 LP was heavily deflated in relative placement and score. But, I would like Mao to make the Olympic team because it is her goal to go and I would like to see her give more legendary performances like landing 3 triple axels in Vancouver, her Vancouver SP or her Sochi LP and this time to combine them in one, but I do not evaluate her performances based on her evaluation by judges under COP. I decide for myself. It is also my sincere hope that Mao can develop her performances for the world to see outside the tight, narrowly defined and biased constraints of COP, the ISU and JSF. Mao's skating while athletic is more of a great expression of performance art to me that I do not like to watch be judged under a system that doesn't value the qualities I do. It is just the price I must pay to see her skate. Like someone assigning a numerical value to a painting and saying it is greater than the one I love or doing the same with a musical composition that I love.

This is like all Mao fan's dream :)

Good old days, fun to watch. In this clip, they are talking about Mao’s Sochi LP. :)

(About her performance.)

Daisuke : Since I had been moved, so on the latter half (of her performance) I couldn’t help crying rather than clapping for.

(About her 3lutz +3lo)

Yuzuru : Her jumping pass was very smooth. Usually it’s very difficult to add a 3lo as a combination but she was doing it as if there’s nothing (difficult). I respect her even more.

(During her performance)

Yuzuru : I was praying she did well to the end!!

(Did you feel relieved (after landing all your jumps), Mao?)

Mao : No, I didn’t. I thought that I had to execute my elements one by one, anyway.

(As for her performance)

Tatsuki : Perhaps my hands were praying, or I believe in her. It’s an honor as a skater, was able to watch it in the same room.

According to some report, Rafael Arutunian said in his recent interview that his ideal skaters are Michelle Kwan, Mao Asada and Jeffrey Buttle.
And his favorite skater is Kurt Browning.

You guy have to watch this their comments are soo on point about Mao, about this system etc.:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bLeaTuquk8&feature=youtu.be

They very well explain and point out what it is that sets Mao program apart from everyone else, and what kind of artistic skills she possesses that many female skaters today lack like extensions etc. hope someone shows the judges these video's so that their eyes will open up and appreciate the details and skills Mao always brings to the ice, enjoy!
