Mao Asada

I managed to watch it via fujitv.live, and it was truly wonderful to see Mao through the eyes of Plushenko, Sotnikova and Tarasova

They talk about how much they admired her, were inspired by her, even were "saved" by her... about how special and unique she was, how no other skater could have delivered that Sochi FS (Adelina cried when she re-watched it, she said it always makes her cry, and "how can anyone not cry, watching it?")... etc etc.

They all love her so much...

I hope it will re-appear online, and someone is able to provide a proper translation for it - it's something very special...

This news has just come out and I can't find the details to well, but there will be a collaboration between Mao and a famous Japanese singer both performing live.

Asia Mao (27), who retired from the figure in April this year, is scheduled to appear in the TBS series sports special number "KYOKUGEN 2017" (at 6 PM) and perform special performance actively (live I think).
She will choose the composition and costume, selection. A collaboration will be realized on live songs on that day. We are already preparing for the actual production,

Mao Sanriomi Shika live acting performance with TBS special number "I will perform with full power"

After the retirement of Mr. Asada who appeared in black long dress, it is the first time to show skating with a nationwide broadcast program.

Quote from Mao: Mao, who is dedicated to practice and preparing, said, "Actually, it is my first time to perform to Japanese songs, I will glide all the time while I feel the thoughts contained in the lyrics."

I have been unable to find exactly when the performance is supposed to take place but perhaps it is a surprise that takes place near the same time as Mai's performances which Mao was choreographing.

Adding:
-the special program will be broadcast on Dec 31.
- yes, it's a live performance, and Mao will skate to a song by a 'million-seller' Japanese artist in collaboration. They've kept the name of the artist in secret for now (some ppl are guessing it may be Ayumi or Dreams Come True). Mao said the song just popped up when the project was proposed.
- (Mao choreographed for Mai's number, which Mai will skate to during 'Christmas on Ice' (Daisuke Takahashi's Christmas ice show) in about a week)

*No wonder she still keeps on practicing skating every day!

I have tried to find news about how Mao is doing in the marathon but to no avail. I am cheering her on and hoping she makes across the line in the time she sets for herself. From what I read, it must be like 3 hours and 45 minutes since the start.

Mao crossed the finish line!!!:clap::clap: :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:She seems so happy!!!!:agree::cheer::cheer:

Thanks for the video nolangoh. Congratulations to Mao for finishing her first marathon so close to her target time. I'm sure this will help Mao meet her next goals in the long run. I was surprised considering all the names that were called that I never heard Mao's name because of the swarm of camera men that hid her from view at the finish line.

Congratulations, Mao :yahoo: The record of 4 hours and 34 minutes is great achievement!! More than anything, her smile makes me so happy :hap93: (The marathon started at midnight in Japan, I couldn't sleep well and ended up waking up early to know the result )

Mao Asada (27), 3 time world champion and the silver medalist of the Vancouver Olympics 2010 in figure skating (women's) went through 42.195 kilometers. On the 10th (Japan time 11th), she took part in the JAL Honolulu Marathon in Hawaii, finished at 4 hours and 34 minutes 13 seconds, which was short of the target 4 hours and 30 minutes. "I could not achieve my goal time, so my run was 80 points (out of 100 points)", she looked back. But when she got a golden finish medal, she smiled, "I am happy with this gold medal since it has been a while! (since when she had received it the last time).

It was the first marathon with ups and downs. "I was running at first very lightly, but the pain started to appear from about 10 to 15 kilometers, and picked up again from there, and when I was around over 20 kilometers, the body became a bit heavy again. And the series was iterative." The left knee hurt at the end of her competitive career had no problem at the start of the marathon practice in September, but it started to pain again in November. The state was also not perfect on this day, and she was icing on the affected area after she finished the run. But the attitude of not giving up she has had since when she was a competitive skater leaded to the finish.

Hawaii, the stage for this event, is a memorable place for Mao. After winning the silver medal at the Vancouver Olympics 2010, she took a family trip to the place with her late beloved mother, Kyoko and older sister, Mai. The 9th, the day before the race, was also the death anniversary of Kyoko. "I feel very strange, it has been 7 years since I came to Hawaii with my mother and Mai. Mai also came here today and probably my mother was also watching, so to think of that, I'm glad that I could finish my run.", she had tears in her eyes when she hugged each other with Mai, who came to support her.

When she was competing, this time around the season, she participated in the Grand Prix Final and trained for the Japanese nationals, and she built up her mindset for the Olympics. About 8 months have passed since she made the announcement of her retirement in the press conference in April. Although she is not aiming for the Pyeongchang Olympics, "(about the retirment) I challenged and I recognized my limit, and I made my own decision after having long time consideration, I have no regrets at all.", she said clearly.

After achieving one big challenge of 42.195 km, she is already waiting for the next "signal gun". "I do not want to stop here, I want to go head to the next thing I should do. Not only skating, if there is anything I want to do, I want to challenge it." Mao will not stop. She will continue running with all her might.

My two friends ran in the Honolulu Marathon before, and they finished in about 6 hours and 30 minutes. As an athlete, I think Mao really showed her strength physically and mentally.

Congrats to Mao! 42km in just over 4.5 hours is amazing! I'd probably still be running the race if I was there.

What a nice article! The part about her mother and that Mao felt she was there watching was really sweet.

And she wants to continue running, we'll have to call her Marathon Mao now!

That's a nice medal too!

The marathon pictures are so darn cute. Her face when she crosses the finish line :D

Congratulations to Mao!

I fell completely in love again and felt such admiration and awe for Mao, completing her marathon. And such kindness and generosity and patience, with media interviewing in the middle of the freakin' race, I mean seriously? Obviously she is still compelled to set goals for herself that are in and of themselves, extraordinary. She is an inspiration. Her joyful spirit. So inspiring.

I don't know if it's a lotte event or a competition dresses exhibition, or her book presentation. Maybe all of that

No, not a lotte event, but a continuation of 'Smile forever' exhibition with Takashimaya (department store, the same ex was held previously in Tokyo and Yokohama) and this time in Osaka. Yes the event in Osaka is in conjunction with the new autobiography (written by Mao) publishing...and new flavors for the 'Mao-onigiri' (obviously she enjoyed the new flavors a lot!)
