Well the only girl sports in Italy are rythmic gymnastic and synchro swimming. In these two cases I think that the person will be ridiculed. But I don't even think that a boy went doing rythmic gym, so I don't know.

No, but there is a famous man/lady U.S. synchro swimming duo. There was a big to-do about whether this was fair, competing against two-lady teams.
The man-lady team might lose some points for unison because he is much taller, but they make them up in strength moves like lifts.
Kids can be cruel. In grade school there was a boy in my class who played the violin. The tough boys beat him up daily. Then he switched to the drums and he was OK.
BTW, there are some boys on synchro skating teams here in the U.S.

I don't know of any all boys synchro teams, but some of the mostly girls teams allow boys to skate, too.
At the last local club show I went to, four of the advanced boy skaters (novices) put on a synchronized exhibition number, just the four of them. It was very entertaining.

Figure Skating is just not a popular sport and there is very little you can do about it. Male veiwship is definitly not very prpable or is it the answer. If only five percent of the US female population watch figure skating that would be about eight to nine million viewers wich is pretty solid compared to American Idols twenty million. I don't know what figure skating current rating are but it is quit clear the not to many males of females care for it.
My suggestion is a lot of people like to watch sports that they also like to participate in. I didn't start watching tennis until after I enjoyed playing it with my sister.If we could some how encourage more people to ice skate we might icrease tv viewership and compition attendance. And what better time to sale ice skating to a family than christmas time. Joy and memories of falling on your butt for everyone.

Is there a standard in Women's Soccer? Women's Basketball? Women's Boxing? I've never heard of standards? Who decides what the standards are? and Where is it written?
Seems like standards are set by a tasteless class of society and not written in stone.

There's a double standard building up too. At least in the area of were I'm from. I knew a girl who played football and she became very popular for it. A couple of years ago a guy was going to try out for the cheerleading squad. His family member came to the try outs, pulled him out, and then they moved away. That is how bad these standards are.

Maybe it's the old immigrant standard in the US, and not the modern world.
RD - You have to become more worldly. There are beautiful and talented people in every field in every nook and cranny of the earth. What happens in the Baltimore area of the USA is not the 'standard' for the whole of America and definitely not the world. :yes:

I realize this, of course. I have travelled to various places inside and outside of the country, but of course haven't stayed in those areas long enough to know what the sports "standards" are. Actually I've spent a lot more time in Houston than I have in Baltimore but I can tell you they're two very different cities. :yes:

RD - You should also understand the 'standards' of the Working Class people and those of the Privilege Class people and all those others in between. There are differences in thinking.

Lots of colleges -- most, I would guess -- have male cheerleaders. Like maybe two men and ten ladies on the squad.Red Dog said:

If you have boys on the squad you can do more spectacular lifts and throws, plus you have a more solid bottom for your pyramid.
(Not that girls can't do solid bottom -- I don't want to be sexist here.)
Every once in a while, if you look for it, you can catch a cheerleading tournament on some obscure TV channel (again like figure skating). Is there a CoP for the judging of these contests?

As for soccer, only in America is this a 'friendship' game for little girls, complete with SUV-armed soccer moms in cashmere sweaters.
Everywhere else, it's a blood sport, the modern replacement of religious warfare, requiring riot police, tear gas, batons, sometimes tank-like vehicles for separating rival fans.
It is among the leading reasons for murder and spousal abuse in Europe (and probably elsewhere).
It is for this reason, that the US womens soccer team is the best in the world, since we are the only nation where any significant number of females ever even go near a soccer ball.
Someone posted something about meeting ladies at the rink, I'll have to put a caveat in front of that....
While it is true that females outnumber males by vast numbers in figure skating (spectators as well as skaters), the overwhelming majority of these females is under 15 years old, thusly not dating material unless you are in that age group yourself......
And among those of 'legal' age, skaters as well as skater moms, snobbery abounds, so you better make REAL sure your intended future date will perceive (correctly or incorrectly...) your social status (job, car, wallet, clothes, etc. etc. etc. pp.) as higher than her own or you're toast.

I think that was the point that poster was trying to make, if a teenage boy wants to hang out around a lot of cute girls his own age without much competition, a rink is heaven. We certainly have a few boys at my rink who have discovered that.
