Max Aaron

I've decided I'm very disappointed that US Figure Skating is only allowing Tweeted questions this time, especially since the hashtag is so long. Managed to squash it in. You guys will have to watch for me since I'll be flying on a kangaroo at the time. I'll catch up later ;)

EDIT:

Just had a quick look at the breakdown of the TCC voting so far. Some interesting trends.

AGE

Max has 100% of the vote for the 0-12 age group, and definitely more than half for the 12-17 age group. He also has more than half of the 55-64 and 65+ age groups. It's the middle four age groups where he's being slaughtered by Rippon. So SnuggleBat is clearly popular with the young generation, and the older generation, but not his own.

GENDER

This was more interesting. Max has a very small amount of the female voting so far, probably only about a quarter of the votes. (Sorry, they use coloured bars and don't break it down to percentage). Rippon is racing away with that one. But the tables are reversed in the male vote, where Max has probably about 70% or so.

COUNTRY

Max is winning the fan vote in India, the UK, South Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Dominican Republic and Indonesia, as well as Germany (barely), Belarus, Bulgaria, Greece and Armenia. He also has half the votes from Chile but nothing else from South America. The percentage breakdown of the US voting is very ugly: he has only 28% of the vote. Shockingly to my mind, Rippon is leading the vote in Russia (though only two percentage points ahead of Max).

Places Max is getting murdered in the vote include the US, Japan, China, Poland, France, Serbia, Ireland, Australia , New Zealand, Sweden, Finland, Spain, and Turkey.

Places where it's more even include Russia, Romania, Italy, and Ukraine.

Unfortunately, I think this is pretty well a foregone conclusion for our dear SnuggleBat.

LOL, Max was the life of the party in the Google Hangout :dance2:.

Glad that he was relaxed and obviously enjoying the banter , esp. with his good pals Zach and Madi.

Over 10,000 votes for Max :yay: ... and counting ...

And I know that we all will continue voting thru Apr 4 .

Even if Max does not win, I just want him to know that he does have a lot of support :ghug:.

Yes, I'll have to catch up with it when I land.

... it was kind of horrifying when Josh said that, because in my mind it meant that I bugged him far too much. I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. Max does favourite some of my tweets, so... *shrug*

Oooops, should have wished Bon Voyage to karne earlier.

When Josh recognized you last year, I didn't take it as an indication that he feels that you bug him too much.
IMO, it was a reflection that you are distinctive in a good way :). I bet both Josh and Max are tickled that one of their biggest fans is from Australia .

Random group photo (undated) at the OTC, including Max looking spiffy in his double-breasted suit. (I don't recognize the other athletes from other sports.)

Just watched the Google Hangout and there was lots of Max being adorable and fun. (But seriously, those celebrity crush choices? Come on, Max, you can do better!) Zach and Max in particular had some really cute banter. As a current Bostonian I was happy to hear his excitement for my city and I think it's awesome that he's hoping to eventually attend Harvard for business school. Can't wait to see him skate in a couple weeks!! :agree:

Wow, Max aims big post-skating. If it works, he's going to be a rich man.

My long-haul fogged brain is finding this whole thing extra hilarious.

Oh my god Max, you did not redeem yourself with that celebrity crush question. I wasn't over the trauma of you watching the Kardashians and then you say that?!

I love Max's goals of a Harvard MBA and a job at JP Morgan or Goldman, and am very optimistic that he will reach them :yay:.

As for the celebrity crush question, the thing is that his response was another example of his "aim big" approach to everything in life .

So at the same time that I was cringing :hopelessness: at his taste in celebs, I could not help liking Max's self-confidence and never-say-never philosophy in wanting to get all the names out there, juuuuust in case one of his crushes happened to notice. Stranger things have happened. And Max is a good catch with a lot to offer any young woman, even a celeb. He's a world-class athlete with smarts; personality; a great sense of humor; looks; etc.; etc. What's not to like, even for a celeb?

That said, the mama hen in me hopes that someone of substance (and of beauty) will capture Max's heart. A fellow athlete or a classmate at Harvard, perhaps .

I think we should rename him. Not SnuggleBat, rather, MiniSnuggleBat.

He is very, very tiny.

Really? He is smaller than Jason? Joshua? Or are they just taller? I always thought Max had massive sized quads compared to them - which is why I used to think that Max was overdoing it on the weightlifting. (BTW, which of Jason or Joshua are Cuddlepie?)

I don't know if he is smaller by the numbers, but he certainly seems smaller than Jason, and they are both smaller than Joshua. But Max is seriously pocket-sized in person. And very slender. You don't even really notice his legs until he gets moving. Jason is certainly more leggy and has more power in that department than a lot of people give him credit for.

Lukas wins the prize for having the "biggest" feeling, though. He's so far the only one I've met who's taller than or as tall as me in skates and he's quite broad-shouldered. And friendly. They are all very friendly.

(Neither. Here there is a children's book called "Snugglepot and Cuddlepie" so I just twisted it without naming a Cuddlepie.)

Go Max :hap10: Go American men:yay:

Asked about competition compared prior times -standard type answer... it's stacked it's gonna be fun.

He got a pieces of plastic melted to his blade at 4CC.

He has worked with Phillip Mills recently it sounded like in Colorado Springs.

Working on basically PCS and growing artistically more than the 4T right, no plans for it worlds.

He wants the second quad in the second half so he can easily add a 4T to the first half when the time is right. And wants to break the habit and reputation for going jump to jump.

He said he knew he did not do well (enough) in the free at nationals due to the audience reaction  it upset him and that was why he looked upset with the marks.

Phillip Mills comes out "quite often" to work with him.

quads are "fine" but worrying more about doing it under pressure.

Looking forward to using home crowd energy.

Does not look at the roster, is going to skate clean, so not affected by 3 world champions.

Asked if his ballet attempt has been what he wanted, and he said it's been close. His focus is on skating big.

asked about using contemporary music. he said it was an interesting thought but he had not thought about it... he brought up ballet again...next season who knows.

Thanks StitchMonkey for transcribing the interview. I love Max. It makes me sad that the audience reaction made Max feel like he did not skate well :( at Nationals. I think that Max did a great job at Nationals. I would have shown him love after his performance.

I cannot wait to see him perform at Worlds. Go Max and team USA!

SAY WHAT NOW?!??!?!!? :eeking: Did he elaborate? Or are you telling me this bunch of professional journalists didn't ask HOW THE HECK THAT HAPPENED?

*anguished wail* Why are US crowds such jerks to Max?! Whyyyyyy?!

Ah! Could the Nutcracker Prince be the Swan Prince's replacement?
