Thx for the replies re the costume violation. And apologies to karne -- somehow I overlooked yours when I previously was replying to Stitch.
I know that tights can be either footless or footed.
To me, Max's pants look as if they have more weight/heft/thickness than what I would call tights. YMMV.
(And I know karne is a competitive skater, whereas I definitely am not.)
Anyway, a general question: Is Rule 501 the only rule governing costumes?
(I know it says no tights for men. But most of the language there seems quite vague and open to interpretation. Wondering whether more specific language about other costume stuff is elsewhere in an ISU document.)
Even before I noticed the Lombardia violation (from one judge), it had struck me that Misha's and Max's FS pants at the Autumn Classic looked virtually identical. (I just re-watched the bromance Instagram video of them with Yuzuru right before the medal ceremony. Max and Misha look cute as they walk together in their matching pants.)
And surely other men compete in very similar pants??
And I (randomly) seem to recall that the top of Han Yan's costume has been known to fly up a lot in competition.
So I hope Max never has points deducted, but he doesn't seem to be alone.
Unrelated thought:
Never got around to commenting on a favorite moment from the Autumn Classic victory ceremony. The ceremony has just ended, and all three men step off the podium. Max notices that the signage on the silver medalist's side is falling down, so he bends down to put it back in place (as much as possible). And then Misha bends down too. I found it very sweet :luv17: that they wanted to fix it, even though the ceremony was over. (And their ceremony was the last one of the competition.) Such nice young men.
