Max Aaron

Coach TomZ was interviewed on this week's IceTalk.

Talks quite a bit about Max's performance at Nationals - his interview starts around 30 minute mark.

Surprised to hear the Matador was not originally intended for the Olympic season. Don't you dare let him change it, Tom!

I would be so sorry if he doesn't keep his Snuggle Bullfighter program. He has already put a lot of work into it, has a great costume, and seemed like he had a real winner. He definitely needs to get more mileage out of it. Hope they feel it's suitable for Olympic season.

The USFS montage of assorted 2017 Nats moments (showing lots of senior skaters) includes a second or two of Max off ice (at approx. 1:25). I appreciate that USFS gave him a nod .

Sending early wishes to Max for a Happy Valentine's :luv17: Day.

I hope he knows how dearly his supporters love our SnuggleBat :ghug: and always will.

Thx to musicfan for posting the Instagram from the Team USA photo shoot. Max is a handsome ambassador .

(Agree that the paper hearts in the video had looked different.)

A video message from Max is front and center  on the USOC "PyeongChang 2018: One Year Countdown" page:

Perhaps it was recorded at the time of the OTC photo shoot before Nats??

Anyway, the video is 32 seconds long, and our favorite ambassador Max :luv17: looks and sounds great.

The USOC video brought tears to my eyes, because a graphic refers to cheering on "Team USA athletes like Max Aaron" in PyeongChang -- and it makes me emotional to imagine Max as a member of Team USA there. I am wishing with all my might :hap85: :sad4: :hap85: that his dream will come true :ghug:.

Go, Max :yay:.

*unhappy muttering* I'm still so worried that he's been silent on social media since US Nationals. *tries to turn off mother hen mode*

Meanwhile...what do we all think about the possibility of Max winding up at WTT again? I know it seems crazy, but in a thread on FSU, it was revealed that even if/when Chen leapfrogs him, Max will be the third-highest (fit) US man in the World Standings, which is what WTT selection is based off. So...that puts him in with a really good chance of being picked.

Would we want him to be? I'm of mixed feelings. If he was picked, oh the outcry...especially from the Vincent-pushers...but I can't deny I'd love to see the Matador in action one more time this season, and perhaps we might even get treated to a sneak peek of SnuggleBat's Olympic FS...

Happy Birthday to my favorite Matador! :yes2:  :hap57: :hap10: :dance3: :cheer2: :party2: :points: :hb:

Wow Max is 25 never would have guessed he looks so young. Happy 25th Birthday to Max! 🎉🎉

^^^karne - thx for your work on doing a summary of the skaters' jumps, costumes, scores etc. Appreciate it! :thank:

Ohhh ... if only Justin Timberlake had asked Max to put on a tuxedo and join the dance :dance2: ensemble on the Oscar stage  :dance2: ...

Max will return again this year as a guest skater for Showtime on Ice.

Friday-Sunday Apr 28-30 in Colorado.
(A few days after WTT, so theoretically not impossible for him to do both .... if/if/if he wanted to be selected for WTT and in fact were selected.)

"Musical numbers will feature three very successful shows from the past – The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Grease."
So would make sense if Max were asked to perform his FS (or at least a version thereof) as an exhibition?

Max was announced on Feb 9 as a guest skater (along with Starr Andrews and Ryan Bradley).
[Not that we could have had any idea from Max's social media . That's our SnuggleBat, staying under the radar  :ghug:.]

We typically get to see some photos (at least) from Showtime on Ice :yay:. Snippets of video possible too.
In any case, by all accounts, Max has been beloved there, and I am glad that he once again is being embraced this year.

On Friday, Mar 10, the Broadmoor Skating Club is having a celebration -- in part for those who competed at Nationals.

BSC invites puublic to join in celebration of our World Team members as they prepare to represent USA in upcoming world championships and to celebrate all of the members of BSC who successfully competed in the recently concluded 2017 US National Figure Skating Championship.

I imagine the larger focus (understandably) will be giving Alexa and Chris a nice send-off to Helsinki. And the junior pair of Nica Digerness and Danny Neudecker a nice send-off to Taipei for Junior Worlds.
But if we're lucky, maybe we'll catch a glimpse of Max?? (Via someone else's social media? ;))

I'd say with one of the themes of Showtime On Ice being The Lion King that there is a very good chance we might see a show version of SnuggleLion!

The BSC celebration definitely mentions those members who skated at Nationals...so perhaps a Max sighting...but I am also wondering...if someone else might not be sighted also? Someone whom our SnuggleBat dutifully watched over...

Quotes from Max from today's IN article about scholar/skaters:

... Aaron has been a full-time student all year, studying finance with a minor in communication.

"I like keeping busy," Aaron said. "I like having an outlet outside of skating. I have friends in the sport and friends who have no idea what skating is."

Aaron schedules his training first and then builds his school schedule around his training day. UCCS is very familiar with working around athletes' training schedules.

"When the semester started, I talked to the professors and asked them in advance what would be due," Aaron said. "I don't do homework during the competition. I do my entire semester's (homework) ahead of time. I'm already finished with all the chapters of homework for this semester. All I have left are exams to take. Whatever I do, I'm all in."...

I have nothing but respect for Max  :ghug: and his diligence ... and at the same time, can't help being amused ;) at the thought of him charging ahead with all the reading/homework for an entire semester. #AlwaysMotivated #Self-Starter

I hadn't known that SnuggleBat's minor is communications .

:agree: Fingers crossed for a second sighting .

Really don't know how he can manage all that, although I would think it's good to have stuff outside of skating to keep you from going crazy! Snuggle Bullfighter's grit and determination are both admirable.

Our dear SnugglaDor is perfectly crazy and it's why we love him so.

Doing the whole semester's worth of work in advance! He is insane.
