Meissner Prepares for Junior Grand Prix Final

The USA's Kimberly Meissner has moved rapidly up the ladder since she burst on the scene in her first U.S. national event by winning the novice ladies title in 2003.

"The 15-year-old had a very successful international season last year, placing second at the Sofia Cup in Bulgaria, first at Skate Bled in Slovenia, third at the Triglav Trophy and fifth at the Junior Grand Prix Final in Malmo, Sweden.

Meissner was 3rd in the *Novice* Ladies event at Triglav Trophy in April 2003, which was the final international competition of the 2002-03 season (Triglav Trophy in Slovenia is not a JGP competition).

She is peaking at the right time. I can almost bet you that she will be going for the senior Grand Prix next season and also making a shot at going to the Olympics. I wouldn't be suprised if she actually competes in the senior level at nationals this season.

Kimmie and Katy Taylor will both be competing as Seniors.

Because they weren't 15 by July 1st, 2004, even if they made the 2005 Nationals podium, Kimmie and Katy can't go to Worlds 2005. Without that important senior international exposure, they don't have much of a chance to win the 2006 OGM.

Every Ladies OGM winner has stood on the World podium before going to the Olympics (with the exception of Barbara Ann Scott in 1948--there was no World Championship in 1947 due to WW2).

In 2010, these youngsters will be polished, seasoned competitors at the peak of their skills.

Competition resumed after WWII in 1947, and Scott did win that year.
