Men's Free Skate

Well if the 2nd best man in Europe can get away with no clean quad, no clean triple axel, and no triple triple and a nice big single flip, then the North American Men and Japanese men are going to have an easy time of it at worlds. Come on jumping is part of the sport, either you do 2 - 3 axels in the program a quad and a 3-3 at the mens top level or your not supposed to be there. We can go back almost 20 years and programs had more difficulty than Verners free. At least the other 5 in the group did the technical content that is required to be in the top 10 in the world. Figure skating is a sport and technical difficulty is required to be done well at this level.

I have to say that i am over the moon with the results especially the bronze medal for Kevin VDP!! I loved Thomas Verner. I was really impressed with his skating at the Oberstdorf Gala and i think he has a great inate musicality to his perormances. I am such a big Joubert fan that i am glad he got the gold but one comment i do have on the skate was that i found the LP quite boring. I've watched hisother performances on youtube and really liked them. At europeans it looked like he wasn't really feeling the music and concentrating only on the elements.

And yet Brian chose the music himself, and co-created the programme with Kurt Browning, he told us all about it on the Life of Brian docus all week that Eurosport broadcast about him during the Zamboni breaks.

But I must agree I've always found his programmes dull, and him a bit of a mechanical skater, he was a bit more natural in the Gala though.

BTW anyone who takes on Brian has to contend with Raymonde his Mother! eeek!

She was a scary woman wasn't she?

I'm gutted that due to the storms my sky dish had debris on it and i only managed to catch a few bits of Eurosport coverage. Did get to see all of the ladies free on Eurosport. So i had to make do with the pitiful one hour coverage on the BBC and no SPs :disapp:

Maybe finally for worlds - the stars will allign and my sky plus will work and the satellite signal will be received and i will get to watch it all!

Oh nooooo! Good Luck Ant! Such a shame as it was a great Euros all round, we even got a glimpse of Marika Tech Specing!!
But don't forget with the time difference in Japan, alot of Worlds will be overnight live, or highlights packages only.

... and that won't be easy. I've been to Paris for TEB the past few years, and from what I have seen of him and his mother in the hotel she's got him under her thumb. He's a nice guy, but he's maybe a little too attached to his mom ... and that is never a good thing ... ;o)
