I'm Canadian, and I do believe my countrymen are being overscored. I'm not happy about this. :scowl:
Siberia, I know you're a huge fan of the Canadian skaters and I really appreciate your view on this. I feel a lot of skaters have been benefiting from generous scoring this season - it's just seems like 80+ was harder to get in the past, and I'm not sure this is just about the skaters figuring out CoP. BTW, Chan is not the only beneficiary, nor is this limited to Canadians or just the men. But it does seem like the judges at 4CC are inflating scores more than at other events.
I hope Joubert has seen this and gets busy with his Quads, pronto please! He probably won't be able to win the SP against Chan (though he had three time level 2 at Europeans and still scored nearly 87) - but a maxed-out 2Quad performance in the LP should do it. And Ponsero should reclaim that Quad Salchow.
I'm not sure. Joubert's Euros SP, under 4CC scoring, might have cracked 90

. If anything it's Brian's LP that concerns me, he has yet to finish first on the LP with either program this season. I guess it's all down to who's judging. If Joubert's the only guy with a 4-3 in the SP next month in Los Angeles, I imagine he should be ok for that part of the competition. He does need those quads, though.
The anti-Canadian stuff around here is getting to be really unpleasant. And not justified in this competition so far as I can see. Chan clearly deserved to win the SP, and he did. Hope he skates like this at worlds.
I get the feeling people here just like to defend their favorites and criticize what they view as bad judging. We all have skaters we think are overmarked, and people like to express their opinions. I've seen just as many critical posts directed at Carolina Kostner or Zhang/Zhang (for example) than I have re Chan or Joannie. More so, actually.
I've written in the past that I find Chan to be a very good skater but not nearly as excellent as his scores indicate. Come on, 88.90? 50.30 on TES? What, did he get +3 on every element? Plushenko at Olys, with a 4-3, levels 3 and 4 on everything, and the judges just looking where to overmark, didn't get that high a tech score. So of course it looks strange, and people will comment.
ETA: I'm not Kozuka's biggest fan, but why was he screwed on the PCS like that? He skates beautifully and that part of his score should reflect it.
