WOW!!!!! A real softness and quietness and even stillness has come out in their professional skating that I did not notice in their competitive days. I first noticed this quality in the Rachmaninoff Ex in Sochi. Meryl and Charlie have learned how to move slowly while still giving each moment purpose. While their competitive programs were largely built around skating with speed and abandon, there is a sensitivity to this program that is very impressive and moving. NICELY DONE!!!

Looks like it. Maybe they are staying under the radar since Charlie is so active on social media with his political views. I admire his courage and well-thought out comments but, I imagine, it brings the trolls who can make one's personal life pretty miserable. Peace and love in the new year!

So Charlie has been very vocal about politics on Twitter, pissing off a bunch of people. I have to say I enjoy Charlie trying to stand up for the beacons of democracy.

My respect for him has grown so much. I'm happy and proud he's speaking out.

Agreed! Charlie comments in a very respectful but direct way! Nothing wrong with having vigorous discussions, expressing various views. Too often, people are only comfortable with those that agree totally with what they think. Stretch your mind and if you have an opinion be prepared to support it!

I came to this thread because I have seen Charlie's tweets. I am also so impressed that he is directly speaking out. It would certainly be easier, for an athlete with endorsements and soeaking engagements, to just stay quiet, but he is taking his responsibility seriously.

He also engages respectfully to those who disagree with him, respectfully. He's a class act and also very genuine in his beliefs.

I saw Charlie's tweets a while ago and thought even to reach him directly to congratulate him for presenting his individual standpoint in such classy, respectful way that just seems to be too complicated/sophisticated or plainly educated for some...I really like his strength in how he speaks up about things that are happening out there to be commented, be assessed, be spoken up - he really negates this stereotype of athlete being just an ad banner and so 'politically appropriate'. I'm glad he's challenging not only others, others' perception of things, but also himself - I command his confidence and overall culture with whom he's carrying himself. Such a respectful partner in discussion, if only some people would see past their own insecurities and hate poured on those who they don't want to understand...

Anyway - respect for Charlie! And happy to see Meryl just glowing, on and off-ice, lots of my friends got to know her through DWTS and became fans

I just saw D&W's "Elastic Heart" program on SOI's preview show on NBCSN. Wow!!! Being out of competition and the restraints it imposes has truly allowed them to show more emotion in their programs. Not to mention the use of the fabric for nearly the entire time. It was definitely a highlight of the hour. Bravo, Meryl and Charlie!!!

They previously learned to use the fabric for a program they were choreographed in during Intimissimi on Ice in Italy late last year: There they played Orpheus who is struggling to save his love Eurydice from falling into the Underworld and the wrath of Hades. It's a gorgeous program, and they loved working with the fabric so they incorporated it in the "elastic heart" program for SOI. I really wish they would have done the original Immortal love program in SOI instead though.
