Mikhail Kolyada

Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!:jaw::shocked::yes2::hap57:

So that really just happened?! I would obviously need more smilys, but that would definitely crash all of GS, if I'd use enough for how I feel now! Mika, you adorable, entertaining, awesomely performing, charismatic, charming, special and making-all-of-your-fans happy little bad*ss of a flirty quirky grumpy cat prince!!!:love: I'm not going to be able to say anything coherent about this any time soon :laugh:

*jumps and dances around like crazy*

So proud of Mika! Love his lp, one of the best of the season imo. Looking forward to see what he brings in the future. :rock:

Thanks to Kolyada, Russia can still keep 2 spots for men next season. Congratulations! Very well done, Mika! :love:

Didn't watch but extremely proud of him! Being Superior Russian is now official :hap10: :yahoo: :hap93:

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
so much joy today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats the FS I love!!!!!!!!!!:hap10::yahoo::rock::tantrum::yes2:

Voilà. I said I was over the moon the day before yesterday... now I'm like over the galaxy or something. He just left me speechless with my hands trembling like for half an hour...! What a spectacular performance. No minus GOE at all in both SP and FS, hitting all level 4s except for that FSSp. That 4T was craaaaaaazy good.

I'm so proud of myself that I found this little Quirky Prince at COR and started this thread, gathering all the informations etc. I instinctively knew he was good, like really good, but didn't even know if he would make to the Russian National team this season. I came to know he had an injury, some bad luck at the past Nationals, and how he had sticked with virtually unknown Chebotareva and I was already very impressed with how far he's come at COR and also at the Russian Nationals. At that moment, I still saw plenty of weakness in his skating, like no level 4 stsq (he had only got internationally once back in 2012!), easily loosing levels of spins (especially the change of edge in the camel spin), 4T being inconsistent, not much international experience, can't put two clean performances at an event, likely to stumble during stsq, and twizzle looking scary... HOWEVER, boy he fixed them all. He got the level 4 stsq at Euros SP for the first time in the past three seasons and since then, never dropped a level at Euros, Hellmut or Worlds. He never dropped a level for the camel spin either, got all level 4s for 4 times at those 3 events, only loosing two spin levels. I don't see him stumble on the step or twizzles anymore. He nailed two clean performances with gorgeous quads in Boston (Mishin, what did you say? Hehe, just joking I like Papa Mishin.). I feel, it's not just like he gave out everything in Boston but he really gave out everything for the whole season. To see how he made the effort to pile up those little improvements and then to put everything together at the World was really one of the most inspirational thing ever happened to me being a fan of a sport. Thank you, Mika. And thank you to all of you guys as well! I love this thread! :thank:

And finally, CONGRATULATIONS MIKA!!!! for the 4th finish at the first Worlds, for this spectacular season, and for what you've achieved with Chebotareva so far. Congratulations to Chebotareva and Klyushnichenko too.

Now fingers crossed he'll be invited at the Gala!

Such a splendid season-end... It seems a fairy tale to me:D
I am so happy guys:)

We'll def see Mika at two GP events next season 😍

Chebotareva interview:

It seems he has thought of retiring when the injury happened...

I like this bit:
You know, we have a great start it was very small. He only recently began to speak at a large audience. And the surprise was for me the most, what the audience helps him. For the first time at a large gathering of spectators, he performed at the Grand Prix in Moscow, and was a surprise for me that in public it is easier to perform.

I think the Russian Fed lost a chance to have a skater on the podium. If Mika had been pushed as number one as his performances this year suggested, the three-point difference wouldn't exist. He was amazing at COR, and better than Maxim at RN. Euros could have been better, but then he goes to his first worlds like this? WOW.

Let's enjoy this amazing debut leaving out critics :)
Kolyada needs to improve his technical pattern first, his quad toe is amazing (like any of his jumps when he nails them... they are all so huge and flawless), so I'm sure next step will be to add a second quad toe and maybe put a 3axel in the second part. With only one quad and two inevitable double axels you can't compete for podium right now.
But he has proved he's the most talented Russian skater because he has fantastic technique, musicality, terrific overall qualities. There's no one like him in Russia right now, and now it's worldwide clear :)

What an amazing performance he put out two programs in a row. I loved his spirit, his energy and his focus. He said it was a bit hard for him in a second part of his program because he was a bit tired but he finished the competition on such a high pozition- wow! His 3Lz was fantastic. Soem say he may develop it into a quad. Can't wait! I really love wathing him. Good job and good luck in future competitions! 4th place for a debut is fantastic! Way to go!:cheer:

He'd better invite Plushenko to be his technical adviser next season, then, everything will be changed overnight! Just my wishful thinking. :laugh:

a guess
& I would actually understand it
He's not a draw yet for such things:(

that was all kinds of AWESOME!!!! :love::luv17:
Congratulations for AWESOME world debut and showing everyone how AWESOME you are , flirty quirky grumpy cat prince! so happy for him, he looked dead serious before starting but then it was all smiles and his coach was so emotional (congratz for aweome world debut for her too!!! )i dont know what he did to make quad so effortless in the past few months but keep doing it!!! now i wish even more that we see him at TCC :sad21: now, can we burn that green shirt please? :biggrin:

btw, i think they will (and should! ) invite him to gala cause he was AWESOME!!

Wonderful - and wonderfully smooth - performance from Mika! I'm so happy - not only did he maintain his 6th place - but moved up to 4th! As a newcomer to the international scene, and mostly unknown, this is a marvellous result - and all due to his own skating! Congratulations, Mika - you can be really proud of what you did!
