Mikhail Kolyada

I just saw on Mika's VK that Brian Orser praised Mika's quad lutz in this interview (Ep 10)

http://www.icenetwork.com/fans/icetalk

Here is a transcript (as on VK, I can't listen to it at the moment myself)

''Brian: You know, and it’s becoming a little bit more common. You know, I heard just today that the Russian boy, Mikhail…
- Yeah, Kolyada.
Brian: Yeah, thank you. He... I guess it may be posting something. But you know, he’s doing this quad lutz and it doesn’t surprise me because I was watching him on practice when we were just against him somewhere at NHK or whatever and his triple lutz is like textbook perfect. You know, it’s like Michael Weiss’s triple lutz. You know, it’s like a perfect triple lutz that has lots of air time and technically perfect and designed. They do it the way it’s designed and they get all this air time and it’s effortless. And now I was watching him on practice and look at that! That could be an amazing quad lutz. There’s another one, the Chinese boy, and Nathan, and the Russian boy, so it’s becoming a little bit more mainstream.''

How exciting is this!!!

Edit: I've listened to it -the transcript is accurate, it starts at 31.40, would like to listen to the whole interview but no time alas :(

oh great !
thx for posting
Gonna listen to the whole now
might be very ineteresting!

Great to see Mika's smile :luv17: I hope he'll try that quad lutz again, quad skaters seem to get more support from Fed, so maybe they will push for him. No to mention if he lands it, it's lots of points :) I really am happy that a coach like Brian praised Mika's Lutz technique. Glad to see Mika grabs attention, means he has the goods! :hap10:

I hope his consistency becomes stable, so that he can deliver his programs it their full potential at Nationals. :)

No doubt in my mind he should be Russian #1. So charming and pure technique. Stay steady!

Misha skates 9th (4th in 2nd group) in SP at Nationals! I just hope he can perform at his full potential.

That's good - he skates after both Voronov and Kovtun. The only potential medalist to skate after him is Petrov.

No, it's the other way around. Petrov (1) and Voronov (3) are before him, Kovtun (11) after.

And of course, what if Aliev or Samarin suddenly do well...

Here are the SP scores:

All level 4 except the last spin. I wonder if he will do biellmann tomorrow.
Yes, exactly, what's up with that spin? I hope he doesn't have back problems or something.

A good showing today. Misha is clearly in the mood to fight for every jump, which is encouraging. And that lutz honestly looked like a double, there was an unbelievable amount of room on it. It's obvious there has been a lot of practising 4Lz.

Also, TAT's ramblings today were especially incoherent. "This is the second time that Misha does a bracket turn entry into the axel and he's had problem landings both times." - Huh? He's been doing it in literally every skate starting from last season, it's his signature axel entry.
