He could stay on without Raf though it doesn't make much sense? 2 weeks seemed to be too short a time for internship to start with but if it is turning out to be even less... :scratch2:
Btw, if Aliev and Voronov are taking part in this show it's hard to believe Misha didn't get an invite. But he seems to turn down every single show. He ether really hates them or considers them a waste of time.

Raf gave a short interview saying he is leaving for Japan on Sunday and his work with Misha and Stasya is over, but they would stay in Lakewood for a couple more days. He complimented Misha's work ethic and said that they mainly concentrated on quads as planned and he is happy with the result. Misha and Nathan trained together for the first few days and Raf thinks it produced a very good effect. It is possible that they will continue their cooperation in the future, as all the conditions are available for it.

All sounds good! I still doubt Raf could help Mika with jump technique as such, it is Mika who should be teaching e.g Nathan especially axel technique. But in terms of self-confidence, mental preparation and different training techniques there is always something new to learn, especially for Mika who's got only coach for his entire career.

He was busy every summer with his studies + military service, it could be that he just didn't want to compromise his training/preparation for a new season. We shall see next year if it is more than that ...

I'm all for cooperation with Raf, especially if it will produce a change in the way Misha approaches his jumps in competition. I don't think this short time managed to rework all the areas that needed attention, but I'm hopeful it will lay some groundwork from where Misha can work his way up - and Stasya too. Also, they can take the good things they learned in California back home and work better on improving all they need to.

On another note, if Misha'd rather work on his skating instead of making bank, I'm all for that. And when he has a less hectic break, maybe he can do them, if he changes his mind.

Sigh, I wish people would stop saying "with new rules Kolyada doesn't need a quad lutz, he can jump a beautiful triple and get +5". Is he supposed to jump three beautiful +5 triple lutzes in the free skate? (I don't believe the judges are going to be that generous with GOE anyway.) Nobody ever seems to bother to count and produce an actual FS layout in which Misha does not need a quad lutz.

I think people certainly overestimate the amount of GOE Misha's going to get on his triples, but then maybe it's something coupled with the over-zealous fear of him falling on the quad lutz? It's true he needs the jump, and to really have a chance to stay at the top he also needs a quad sal on the FS.

With a quad lutz he at least won't need to resort to a 2A, so that's a start.

Also I think there is this idea in people's heads that if there is no quad lutz Misha will magically start skating perfectly time after time getting max GOE on everything. Excellent though, except for the fact that nothing like that has ever happened.

Not all the time, but it happened in Boston, haha. Let's be realistic though, if he only has one quad in each program he's going to get the Jason Brown treatment, good GOE and PCS, but when it matters it won't be enough to reach a higher ranking. I'm sure he wants more than that.

I though with one jumping pass out, 2A is out of the picture anyway?

It would be with a 4Lz plus 2 4T layout which is what he jumped in OG and Worlds. With 8 jumping passes the last jump had to be a 2A. Minus one jumping pass is good because Misha won't have to suffer from having no flip. But not if he takes out yet another quad.

Yes, it happened in Boston all of one time
Strictly speaking he'll have two quads in the FS, but only one type. Yes, there is a ceiling on where you can get with that and I am sure Misha won't be content with it (well, obviously not if he isn't giving up on 4S, let alone his 4Lz). It makes me wonder if people who advise it don't realise this or think it is precisely where Misha belongs.

Also, I know virtually everyone watches him starting from 2015-2016 at the latest, but he did actually start his career slightly earlier ;) and it took close to three seasons of competitions to more-or-less stabilise 3A - if anyone had been looking at him then they might have also said it is hopeless and he should just give up. This considering that back then Valentina was not under pressure to put in jumps almost the moment they started seriously training them. 4S never made it in even though there was a slot ready for it in the LP and he was landing it in practices with reasonable success (it is a mystery why 4S simply disappeared after his injury and has been so hard to recover).

I implore him to keep that haircut and only that haircut! He looks like a total babe!
My favourite haircut was the one at the GPF. But just as long as it's a haircut that keeps the hair swept away from his face and he doesn't let it overgrow. He doesn't have the type of hair you can just let grow out and it'll look fine.

People are already looking at his abs in this photo under a microscope  Not a good photo for judging abs, the previous one on the beach is better, there is nothing wrong with his abs or any other muscles :taunt: He is thin because how else you'd jump quads these days but everything that's supposed to be there is perfectly visible. The off-ice coach in that group knows what he is doing and Valentina despite being thought of as a "soft" coach is actually pretty strict about her students' weight from everything that's been said. Thankfully she doesn't achieve it by starving them.

Misha is a twink :laugh2:. He is fine, but it's funny to see him half-naked because you can see he's very thin and slim. It's different than the impression you get when he's on the ice, especially in training clothes, he looks almost a bit bulky, but certainly not at the beach. He does look healthy, which is always a good thing, tho.
Well, a few layers would make anyone look bulky, but last season's SP costume showed how thin he was. I rewatched a couple of videos from 2015 after the subject of TAT came up (again). Misha wasn't quite as slim then as now but TAT praised his shape in her commentary, and she thinks everyone should lose a few kilos. So if he passes the TAT test he is thin enough for sure, he can breathe easily and eat something sometimes  Misha actually gets asked about food a lot and tends to say he can eat everything but in moderation (Valentina's main solution to someone being not quite moderate enough seems to be an extra 45 min of running time). It must be difficult to both have muscles and prevent them from getting bulky.
