Wow. Just wow.
You have done nothing to help your case and provided no support to your opinion at all. Someone can say "George W. Bush is one of the best American Presidents ever" until they are out of breath but, until they give some actual reasons, it's all just noise.
And you say I'm being ignorant.
If you wish to talk further, then you should point out some examples of your feelings rather than just repeating yourself ad nauseam.
Technique helps artistry. A spin doesn't need to have difficult positions or a ton of speed to be effective, BUT, unattractive positions and a wobbly blade usually don't help.
You say that you see artistry when you look at her spins. In figure skating, for me, artistry is doing something that looks good and/or interprets the music and/or creates a feeling. Her spinning usually does not do any of those things. Some of the positions in her spins are simply atrocious and that's not just a detriment to her technical merit, it's also a detriment to her artistry since it looks bad and clearly does not help the music. And, believe me, that hurts my heart.
So, please, describe why you admire her spins. I've given specific examples as to why I don't think they are good artistically (such as that layback in her LP which doesn't go with the music, in addition to everything else). If any more discussion is to be had, you'll need to participate properly.
Because it’s not about right or wrong when we talk about artistry as I already told you.
I understand your view of artistry, technical part influence artistry. And you think if technical part is not right it can not possibly be beautiful. But I didn’t think Miki’s spins are completely unbalanced, and terrible technically either, which you are saying. And the whole impression of some of her spins look beautiful.
Again, it’s just an one’s view. Seems like you want to know which is right or wrong, answer is always only one way, according to you , black or white. Grey may not exist in your world. And you think you are correct and different views are wrong. Want to convince your opinion to others.
There are people who don’t have same view as you. I understand you don’t like mystery. But I love it. Art and artistry is mystery, that’s why it’s interesting to me.
The discussion started from “ Miki’s spins are beautiful “ and seems like this comment bothered you, and you started talking “ her spins are pretty terrible !” as if it’s the fact. Then you are calling “ silly “, “ ignorance is bliss “ to those who have different opinion. This is not respectful , Your post sounds completely self centered thinking. IMO.
You think her spins are terrible and explain why, because technically it’s bad so it can not be beautiful, from your view. And her spins ruin her other parts.
Which I don’t agree. Because in my eyes, when she is on, her good points of artistry delete her bad points of technique.
Just like when Lambiel is on, if his artistry is on, his falling on jumps don’t detract from the programs for me. Same as for Sandhu.
Pretty much every skating commentator has criticized Miki's spinning. A couple other posters in this thread have done the same. Her grade-of-execution scores in that area have certainly not been great either.
Sounds like you need the support of commentators, or the support of a majority of people, to form your own opinions of artistic impression , you apparently don’t form your own view by your self. I see. I often disagree with commentators, because their comments, especially comments on skaters artistry, are also their own view. Sometimes even their own biased view.
And my favorite part of Miki’s skating is not only spins. Total impression of her program, the one I posted the link to, in my last post, is beautiful to watch, for me. She cares about small detailed parts of movements. And I love it.
I already explained why I think some of her spins are beautiful, the way how she uses her body, arms , hands, and leg, it’s complete package artistically .
Even though some skaters may have technically perfect spins , level 4 or whatever, and praised by the commentators, I don’t feel anything from them artistically.
