From a notorius but informative web board here in Japan, I learned that Blades on Ice magazine has now an article called "Miki Ando Update".

https://bladesonice.com/

Would someone having extraordinary kindness tell me please the essences of the article, so that the Japanese fans will know whether we should go to look for the magazine in the import book shops here?

(Or is the magazine always good enough so that we should subscribe regardless of the risk of sending our credit card numbers via online?)

If posted in the wrong area, please move this to wherever. :)

I subscribe to this magazine, but I have not received this issue in the mail yet. I also haven't seen it on the newsstands yet, but it should be out soon. Maybe it is alredy out in some cities.

Blades on Ice is, IMO, the premier magazine for United States figure skating coverage. Lots of pretty pictures, extensive interviews with skaters, etc. It covers international skating, but pays especial attention to U.S. interests.

The coming issue with Michelle Kwan on the cover features the last installment of its "history of ladies' figure skating" series. This was an outstanding historical overview, and it is worth getting the last several back issues just for these articles.

It seems from the magazine website that it also allows ordering by phone or fax. But probably internet ordering is perfectly safe too.

which web board are you referring to?;)
The notorius BBS is none other than "2channeru", however the intent of the thread that I get information from is not malice, but full of support to Miki. That thread is informative but at the same time it's awfully contaminated by spiteful, vulgar, childish posts of web delinquents that dwell in that BBS. So I'm taking distance having no nerves to post there.

BTW ks777, you were lucky to have had conversations with snoopy in '03 and 'O4. I recently found that out and envy your precious experience.

So I'll try to subscribe, but nonetheless, I'd love to hear some excerpts of the article as soon as possible. :)

Yeah I also do go to 2ch.net and read once in awhile but never post anything either. That website cracks me up sometimes but it's just too mean.

Snoopy? are you talking about Miki Ando? Yeah I love Miki, She is so down to earth.. It was definitely nice of her to respond to my messages!!

In the October (Kwan on the cover) issue which I got last week, are two Miki Ando photos and a very nice two page article written by Alexandra Stevenson (including one Miki photo). The article´s title is "Miki Ando Makes Surprise Move to Hackensack". That article is among others in the Newsnetwork section.

I´m not good in describing about the article... Sorceres, I´d suggest that you buy the magazine. I´m a subscriber for BOI and IFS and really enjoy them. The same goes for Spotlight on Skating which I´m very happy to receive otherwise.

^ Spotlight on Skating (Canadian magazine) is outstanding. Plus, the folks there are friends of Golden Skate.:)

I have to respectfully disagree with MM. IMO, while BOI does offer features that IFS does not, like the series mentioned, compared to IFS, some of the writing is amature-ish. Some snipets I have read in the past sounded like they were copied straight from the press releases. Some of the other articles I have read in the past were not much better. I don't subscribe to BOI b/c frankly, I don't think it's worth the money. I'm content to subscribe to IFS and buy the occassional BOI from the newsstand when I can find it, which is very rare.

All this, is just of course, MHO.

This summer, someone posted a link to an article on the BOI website re: Shpilband's dance teams in Canton. Some of the "facts" in the (on-line) article were completely wrong. Two of the worst misstatements were 1) V&M competed their Dark Eyes OD at Thornhill (they did not), and 2) Scott Moir wore an orange dress during their FD!! Even the most basic editing would have caught such egregrious errors. I am not sure if the magazine contains the same level of inaccuracy, but going by what they thought was fit to post on-line, I would not buy this magazine.
