Miller and Brubaker Split

America's best hopes for 2010 Olys have split due to a mother nature height growth. Sad, but this happens.

Can we find replacements for them?

Would Evan think of Pairs after the Olys? Who could join Brubaker? there are a lot of not too tall gals in figure skating but will they skate Pairs?

Both Miller and Brubaker have had a lot of experience now. I'd hate to see that totally wasted.

Is the height their true problem? It's too bad that they can not stay together. They had been doing very well until recently...Some male skaters are not much taller than their parteners...Same as in ballet...Men are supposed to be much stronger than women even in the situation that they have about the same height...

Russian Pair Skating has always had 6' gentlemen and 5' ladies, and that is indeed a big help.

In ballet, they are not on slippery skates, and most of the time, the men are at least 4 inches taller. Those finger turns will get them - not the lifts.

That's a bummer. I kind of saw it coming though, especially after seeing how tall she had gotten at the Indy Challenge this summer. They could do most of their tricks and stuff pretty well but those lifts were not looking as secure as they were last year at Nats. Sometimes these things happen for pairs teams and I do wish them both all the best. :yes:

Anyone else think Keauna McLaughlin could be a good partner for Rockne? She's pretty tiny and a great skater but I don't know what she's doing currently after splitting with Ethan Burgess last year. I think she'd be wonderful though. :agree:

Keauna McLaughlin (age 13) focused on singles this year and won the Juvenile Girls silver medal at the "Junior" National Championships earlier this month -- see the related article at:

It sounds like Rockne Brubaker wants to stay in Colorado Springs, so any potential partner would need to relocate there.

I hope and pray that even if it's not with Rockne Brubaker that Jenny Kirk will consider competing in pairs. I think she has all the "goods" to be an excellent partner and already has the jumps to compete the side by side elements. Since she's already skated pairs with the Canadian while with Callahan I think she already knows the drill about what pairs would involve. Such a shame to see all this talent go to waste. I hope they all find partners that suit them. Though it seems like years in coming, Team USA has a great selection of up and comers in both pairs and ice dance.

Another one bites the dust....:sheesh: :sheesh: I saw this one coming, too, since they were a pretty succesful US junior pairs partnership and God knows we can't have THAT...... Tho at least it's for a legitimate reason, as opposed to the standard US Pairs syndrome of "We've only been together 4 weeks and we finished like 9th in the Nationals, obviously this is not gonna go anywhere so we're gonna split up now......":sheesh: :sheesh:
