Mirai Nagasu's future prospects

it will be interesting to see how Mirai does this year because Poloina looks really solid and Ashley is hungry to regain her title and Gracie is the American darling right now - there's only room for three!

... Also Tom Z did an interview with Manley Woman recently where he briefly mentions Mirai and her training at the end.

If you want to hear just that part skip to the very end. He plays kind of coy about it but he speaks really highly of Adam's choreo and I think he likes working with Mirai so far. When asked what his goals for her are he said "My goals are Mirai's goals" and then he complimented her work ethic. ...

So, is Tom Z Mirai's new coach and has she relocated to Colorado?

Yes, Tom Z has spoken openly about being Nagasu's new coach -- for example, he did so in the new Manleywoman podcast, as samson noted in post #380 earlier on this page of the thread.

wanted to share a video someone posted of her performance at ISI in Massachusetts from about a week ago. It's not the strongest quality vid but man it's a really nice performance of On Golden Pond. Even though it's far away, I've noticed some subtle changes in the choreo that I think are lovely. Just a little more nuance with the music.

So beautiful. I would have loved to see this exhibition as a SP this season. It's so captivating and beautiful. That whole arena was silent while she was skating. I think it would have worked really well as a competitive program.

I agree. I love the little changes made to it.

I love it as well! I hope she is adding little things to her competitive programs as well. So excited to see her skate this season! Is she doing any Senior B's?

She's done Finlandia the past two years in a row. I think that would be a good warm up for her especially seeing as how she's got the first event of the season.

I was wondering if she would compete at Finlandia again. I would like to see her to a competition before Skate America.

It would be nice for Mirai to compete in front of international judges before Skate America. I hope she does Finlandia again too.

Mirai's assigned to the USA International Classic (9/10-14) along with Polina Edmunds, Courtney Hicks and Ashley Shin. USFS doesn't double up on B assignments, so she won't be assigned to Finlandia (10/9-12), which is too close in date to Skate America (10/24-26) anyway.

Really excited to see her again! I suspect we will see a whole different, much more maturer Mirai. A whole different team, wow Rippon full time choreographer. I am not sure if I like her choice of programs though, Madam Butterfly is all sort of cliche (She has already done Memoir of a Geisha...why repeat another victim, just don't do Miss Saigon next year, otherwise I am seriously giving back my Mirai fanship. Urgh...!)

... USFS doesn't double up on B assignments ....

Off topic, but a U.S. skater without a GP assignment (e.g., someone like Jordan Moeller, but not Mirai) could get two Senior B assignments, right?
Max Aaron was assigned to SLC and Coupe de Nice in 2012.

Or this year, with three as the max. for the Challenger series, do you think USFS even might go that high for someone like Jordan?

I love this music and suits here perfectly. Is this her SP or exhibition only? Could be a great program.
