Mone Chiba

I won't be able to watch Mone Chiba's Free Skating tonight, but I really really hope that it will be wonderful! Ganbatte (which is what she always do!)

And here's the gorgeous free skate from Mone complete with a standing ovation from the (mostly American) audience and my heartfelt congratulations to her on her first Worlds medal and hoping for many more to come! You know who started off with a bronze at Worlds, right? Right!

I know someone who started off with a Bronze at World Championships, deserving Silver, yes... She's following THE model!

Mone Chiba is going to skate at the World Championship Gala, the first skater after the group opening. I suppose that her skate may start in about an hour and a half? I also suppose that she will skate to her Ladies in Lavender Gala program of this year.

For those who are geoblocked for ISU videos and don't manage (or don't want) to circumvent the geoblocking through a VPN, and who don't have alternative videos (such as CBC's in Canada), here are Mone Chiba's Short and Free programs at World Championships; actually, the first video is also geoblocked, but I hope it is so in less countries, and the second is a webcam taken from rather up on the long side facing the judges, so one can't see the details:

For next year's Grand Prix, of course Mone Chiba will have two spots; but in the previous years, there were six Grand Prix trophies before the Final, and the rule was that in each discipline, the World Gold Medallist could pick two of these, then the World Silver could pick two of the remaining trophies, then the World Bronze Medallist was assigned to the two remaining ones, so as to avoid a confrontation with another World Medallist at a Grand Prix trophy, or a lack of interest in another... And so, in turn, would the skaters ranked four to six at World Championships do.
For 2025-2026, at the moment only five Grand Prix trophies have been announced, and during this ending season, there have been talks about restricting the Grand Prix season to five competitions (plus the Final), many potential hosts feeling unable to bear with the costs of a Grand Prix trophy. If this is the case, I wonder how the assignments will be organised for the top scored skaters at World Championships.
The ongoing discussion in The Edge is assuming that there will be six trophies, which of course I hope, but am uncertain of.

Apparently there will be 6 GP events, just GP Finland is not yet listed on ISU website but it is announced on the Finnish website...

Thank you, you're right, now I have seen it elsewhere too. It's just that the ISU site is a bit late, I had read that this year Finlandia would be a Challenger, and the dates and locations of the Challenger Series have not been announced yet.

Mone Chiba fell on the Double Axel of her Short Program at World Team Trophy, which, given how gorgeous it is usually, was unexpected.
She was fourth, bringing nine points to Team Japan.
I wish her an excellent Free Skating!

In the Free, Mone Chiba fell on her Triple Loop, which was also called as underrotated, which, being Japanese, relegated her to the Fifth place... I'm sure that she would have wished a more joyful end of season, but, given how the event was judged in particular (and after World Championships), was maybe making the competition a pensum. Ganbatte!

Did you notice the article on Golden Skate?

I'm so glad that she enjoyed Last Dance, both as a program and her performance at World Championships! And to learn that she could help choreographing her Free Skating. I'm not very surprised that she doesn't take real holidays this year, I hope that she will be pleased by how things unfold.

Bits and pieces of Mone's programs for the new Olympic season have been posted. I love her choices, and really hope Romeo and Juliet as the Olympic debut will turn lucky once more for another Sendai citizen !!!!:love2:
