Pointless quiz: Which US Olympian Are You Based On Your Color Preferences?
You get Nathan if you pick all the ones in the upper left hand corner, although that's not the only combo that works.

-----------------------------------------------
And finally, the last installment of Nathan's post Rostelecom Interview.

Q: Do you also feel frustration that the jumps take so much time that you can’t work on the artistic expression?
A: Yes, it’s a bit frustrating. But as a competitor it’s something you have to understand. Particularly as a skater. It’s usually the case that you don’t progress in the way you would like to. I believe that if you focus on what’s ahead of you, at some stage you’ll learn what you’re having trouble with. It’s not only me, but everyone wants to skate their best program. However, after you get your results you have to shift your focus to the next thing.

Q: Do you have plans to choreograph for yourself?
A: I’ve choreographed an exhibition program before and really enjoyed it. I want to grow artistically so once this season is over and I have more time I definitely want to try choreographing for myself.

Q: Tell us about your coach, Rafael Arutyunian.
A: Raf is a genius. He notices problems long before the stage where the skaters do. I’m truly grateful to be able to train with somebody like him. Everything we do in competition is what we do in training, so we just do what he tells us to do in practice. He also has unique jump exercises to help us in our program run throughs.

Q: Do you feel interest in figure skating has increased in the United States?
A: To be honest, I think the anime “Yuri On Ice” may have raised the interest in figure skating among the younger generation. (LOL) Since the Olympics is in the news there has been more interest in all sports, not just figure skating. However, compared to Japan, or even other countries, we are lacking in fan base. The past few months the American skaters have been working hard to be in the media. Ashley, Adam, Vince--we’re all working together to increase the sport’s popularity and bring back medals to America. By winning medals the popularity will rise!

Q: Do you also feel a sense of responsibility and pressure?
A: Well, when I think it about it that way the pressure increases. But that’s my life, my sport, my career. I think about what I want to achieve, and using that as motivation I can put myself into a certain context. If I can bring this sport into people’s lives it’ll be super cool. It was the same with me after I came across figure skating. At this season’s competitions, and if possible at the Olympics, by skating good programs I hope other skaters and children can be inspired to go to the rink and try skating for themselves. That would also increase the sport’s popularity.

Q: This will be an important step for that, as well.
A: Beating Yuzuru at the start of the season is a huge step. But at the same time it’s the beginning so he and I both have things we need to do. It was an incredibly small margin, so I can’t get distracted. The things I’ll work on are, of course, to improve the artistry, maintain the level of everything, increase my GOEs as much as possible, and retain a sense of stability. It’s five weeks until Skate America and I want to meet with Lori once to improve on my presentation. After the Japan Open and this competition I’ll freshen up to be ready for the second half of the season.

Yeah, I guess it's just to promote the commercial but I'm glad, now I won't have to watch the whole Super Bowl looking for the one commercial!

Nate at COR interview article mentioned Vince to be one of the skaters that will increase or share the responsibility to increase figure skating popularities in US. That was in the beginning of this season, and Vince has just started to compete in the senior level. Nathan really speaks highly of Vincent and foresee the huge figure skating potential and marketing potential that Vincent might have in the future. It really is very humble and insightful of Nathan.

I like these interview articles of Nathan (I also like fan interviews of Nathan). There, Nathan seems give way more substances and his perspective than his interviews on TV (which is pretty much the same stuff every time.)

I'm not 100% sure, but isn't Vincent the only skater younger than Nathan to have ever beaten him (at 2013 Nationals)? I like how Nathan seems to get along really well with the younger US men, and in turn they all sound like they look to him as a role model.
ETA: I forgot that Nathan has also lost to Sota Yamamoto

I think it is recent, Nathan's hair is short and in new costume. I think this interview is shoot during or after US national in San Jose.
My gut feeling tells me that Nathan will do 4LZ in OG AND will do it beautifully.

@sheetz I think Nathan BOI is loved by his peers, isn't Roman just shout out to Nathan, and lots of funny interactions with his fellow skaters on Instagram, before that place become an #AD place.
Can't blame him, BOI has grown up and destined to fly to places where stars, galaxies @shine

He says he's going to do it at the Olympics. I wonder when was this recorded, at Nationals or recently? Is his ankle (?) healed to jump the 4Lz?

I think it was recorded during Nationals, given his styling and costume. Maybe after he practiced the day of the free?

While I do think there's something about Nathan's ankle or foot that was bothering him (hence the decision not to do a lutz of any sort) if he felt confident enough at Nats to say he would do one in the Olympic Games, it makes me hopeful it was a minor issue. We won't know until the games and/or official practice, unfortunately.

When will team USA (Nathan specifically) leave for South Korea?

Good question and I'm also wondering about it too. Skaters from East Asia don't have any issue with jet lag and time differences such as Boyang and Shoma, but considering that Nathan is highly likely to participate in the Team Event needs enough time to adjust himself to the local time in PyeongChang.

In Adam's recent IG story he showed video of Nathan practicing his SP, and it looked like he was setting up for a 4Lz.

True, many of the top young men from other countries have expressed also admiration for him, including Nam, Roman, Aliev, and Sota.

I've seen reports that the US team is renting out a private rink in S Korea starting Feb 5, so they will probably have to leave this weekend.

There were a million segments beforehand on the Today Show, but I got the main clip uploaded:
https://youtu.be/Lbjs9IWpwlE

There were a few awkward segments leading up where they had him live, on standby, but no talking, so I didn't bother to edit them in.

Thank you very much penniavaswen and sheetz :2thumbs: , I really wanted to see that commercial, I love seeing Nathan with the Corsaire suit and how they show the hard training he has to do to get to those beautiful presentations :points: (many people mistakenly believe that skating is easy)

I hope it's only my impression, but I thought Nathan was tired (Please give the boy a break, he needs to gather all his energy) :bed:
