Nathan Chen

LOL at ‘pure celebration of Nathan’s good looks’. He really can dance and the movement just looks so natural for him!
I was watching the GPF gala recently and he just looked so genuinely happy and free skating his ex, and really commanded the ice. Looked like he was having a lot of fun during the group number as well.
Thanks yyyskate for sharing the port de bras video. He has really beautiful and natural arm movement. Nothing looks stiff or forced.
One of the things I love the most about Nathan is his port des bra, including his elegant and expressive arms like no others.

I was the one who suggested that Rachmaninov piece. I’m glad I’m not crazy in thinking it might suit Nathan! For some reason, the tones of the cello really resonate with his skating for me — rich, deep, nuanced. And as that piece shows, you can focus on exactly those deeper textures without reaching for a dark or bombastic piece. But Nathan’s skating makes me think, in an orchestral context, viola and cello, not first violin; he has a self-assurance and maturity that I think would be complemented/showcased by pieces like the one I initially posted. And given his musicality and dance training, I could see him doing some fascinating and unorthodox choreo highlighting the harmony and not the melody of a given piece.

Thank you very much for suggesting it, for bringing it to shine's attention, so I could learn from shine.

Could you guide me to the discussion (ex. page # __ of ___ thread, if you recall where you first mentioned it), so that I can re-visit the discussion and possibly catch other people's music suggestions as well? I miss a lot, since I'm in and out.

And please do share any other music suggestions that come to mind. You're clearly very knowledgeable and I agree with your opinion of Nathan's musical interpretation skills. Thanks again.

Thank you very much chopinskate. LOL i just saw Metis' comment: non quad heavy layout only! I concur :)
I'll be happily occupied checking out the many recs on that thread. Very kind of you to point it out to me.

But lappo, I'm still waiting for *you* ;p
just kidding. I do enjoy hearing you talk about music, but no pressure... Enjoy your worlds lead up days as you see fit.

Hope you like the EX recommendation I put out for Nathan. ;)

Spotted in his natural habitat. Wonder when he leaves for Milan?

:) that was so cleverly phrased (natural habitat)
must. resist. urge. to. make. bad. joke.

indie sounds like what he *plays* on his guitar--but whether he wants to dance / skate to indie...

here in the land of wishful thinking, i want him to skate to indie. and classical. and 'road to the west' from cowboy bebop. and that beatles war horse 'the long and winding road'

*serious face* i will check your music links when my chopin playlist has finished playing :)

fav song to enjoy or play on guitar is totally different from fav song to skate to.

when Nathan sings he cannot belt  that restricted the types of songs he likes or play on guitar.

That is true, fav song and fav song to skate to aren't the same - but ... I'm hoping that Bieber is at least not on that second list for Nathan
He skates his ex to Scandinavian electronic/house music and I'm not sure that is his personal fav type of music either (?)
Nathan loves the Beatles and I love them as well, but ... I just don't see the Beatles as great music to skate to. Patrick's Dear Prudence/Blackbird and Adam's Beatles program were just ok to me.

TBH, before Nathan, I don't know anyone ever skated to Scandinavian electronic/house music, this genre for figure skating is absolutely a new experience (brought by Nathan) to me.

But I also did not watch all figure skating programs, so I might missed some. my point is that, it is Nathan opened my eyes to this genre of figure skating.:luv17:
