Another interesting finale pic. It's quite striking how much further apart Nathan's legs are compared to the other skaters. Also love the way his palms are pointed straight up.

I don’t think I saw this particular spelling until the song ‘Bad and Boujee’ - and from Wikipedia:

I remember Nathan saying that his mom used to try to watch Michelle skate whenever she could back in China (on tv) and that’s how she fell in love with skating. And now he’s following the same path
aww that is so lovely and poignant, watch Michelle back in China (but Nathan's mom probably immigrated to US around 1990 already and Michelle is only 10 years old by then), I don't know this little story, is it in a video, i would like to watch it, but I also had an impression that Nathan's Mom is a big Michelle Kwan fan, if not, I know for sure that Nathan's mom is a figure skating uber fan and loves the artistry of figure skating very much.:luv17:

Reading the essay you linked when 10yearold Nathan won the National in novice for the first time.
Nathan surely has comes a long way from a erudite protoge writing perfect essay to someone play around humor of "Bougee life style" hahahaha

Actually his parents emigrated to the US in 1998 so she would have seen Michelle skating during Olympics or Worlds before that (Michelle was 12 when she turned senior in 1992/1993)
Here’s one interview where it was mentioned (I think he mentioned it some other time too when he was talking about how Michelle was one of his inspirations, I’ll post it if I find it later)

It doesn't sound like this particular skater thinks fans waiting for him at the hotel is rude or scary ? (unless I'm confused and he's only referring to Japan and not sure if the set up is different there) And hoping we will get to see video or photo of him and Nathan training together at Team RAF International Skating Academy.

Well, maybe his mom traveled back and forth to China and still had to get her skating fix on while she was there. So it is plausible she got to watch Michelle Kwan while visiting China.
from Seating in UBC Thunderbird Arena (GPF 2018) thread - 'A new block of all event tickets were released for the 2018 GPF in Vancouver. These tickets are in the west bleachers. Has anyone attended a FS event in similar seats? I'm just wondering about what the view will be like. It's also on the opposite side of the arena from K&C which isn't great.'
response: 'I don't know where the west bleachers are. But I've been to at least one FS competition every year since 2013, and I'm happy to share my opinion.
My favorite seats are in what's sometimes referred to as the "Lutz corner." Each time my seats have been there, it's been the opposite end from the K&C. I can always see the skaters' K&C reactions by viewing the big ceiling screen at center rink. Many of the skaters who jump counterclockwise (thus, most) jump their lutz in that corner, and it's thrilling! Also, it's been a great place to see a lot of the other jumps from. Most of the skaters plan their jumps to happen at both ends of the rink, or the middle too. This last year, Nathan Chen put his quad lutz in one end during the SP, and in the other end during his FS. Very considerate, I thought.
If anyone is interested in attending
the bold part, Nathan place his quad lutz in two different ends of rink actually showed his tech prowess (not just considerate for fans.) Some skaters would place their repeated jumps (either in the same program or separately in sp or fs) in the same spot in the rink. so that they will be only practice one positioning/patten.
yes sit in the end opposite to K&C is the best place to watch jumps, at K&C you can NOT sit directly at the rink board even front row, the closest you can sit is above K&C, you can watch lots of skater little behind scenes stuff there (that is why many fans loves K&C)
but the end opposite to K&C is the best place to watch jumps, most jumps are placed at either end of the long side of rink. some are placed in the middle,
like Mirai's 3A. or Nathan's 3A, 4S, 3F-LO-3S, A good jump placement pattern should be very balanced.
ETA, S**Y lutz and flying flip usually placed at the ends of long side. edge jumps like 3A, 4S utilize the short side for jumping prep usually placed in the middle.

Here we go again. I said US/Canadians are put off by it mostly. Russians and skaters from Asian countries are different.

That's a diplomatic response! Both he and Ashley skate so well in the group number; it's not unless you look up close (or in our cases, are uber skating fans) and realize Ashley's a lot older than he is.
