Nathan Chen

I think I've become a fan of this guy after watching the U.S. Nationals, really impressive to pull off 4 quads in a long program! Other than that, I'm sure Nathan will improve as he gets older (SS and PC wise) and as he gains more experience while progressing into the senior field of men's skating.

It's also interesting that he plays hockey as well as do figure skating, must be so different to do both. Liked his choice of costumes for both programs too! Hope he recovers, stays healthy and avoids any more injuries from now on.

Just watched his FS and well, he was so close to win, I mean, if that 3A would have been OK... 4 quads... 4 quads, unbelievable. Kudos to this young guy! And I hope he take proper time for treatment. It's great he is going to Worlds. Can't wait to see his next achievements.

Ugh, he really should've been at least 2nd ...

That's so weird. If I were him I'd just pick fs considering the level he's at lol w/e makes him happy, I guess :P

Really concerned for the well being of this young man. I hope he rests and gives his body a chance to heal. A "problem" with a growth plate and hip are not minor. I would hate to see him skate his career and in pain. You have many years ahead...I want you to skate beautifully in the decade to come and be able to walk for the remainder.

1st of all Noooooooooooooooooo, he injured himself again?!?!?!?! but as you guys posted, they are expecting a full recovery :cheer: but Nathan, lets not push ourself so much before we finish growing, okay?

now, onto to the good news, Yaaaaay!!!! congratz for bronze medal!!! :yahoo: but if it wasnt for that spins you would have been national champion Nathan, put quads aside for a while and work on your spins cause its been many times now you threw away very valuable points and you saw the consequence here :sad21:

Thank you, matmuh, for the links and information. I understand one Japanese word the commentator said at the
end of Nathan's long program which is "sugoi" meaning amazing. Hope Nathan has Japanese fans here to tell us more.

oh Nathan bb please get well soon

It was SOOO painful to see the EX:sad21: Im not used to actually seeing an injury happening right before my eyes.

Has a bit of information on the injury and some comments by Raf. It sounds like Raf is at least injury conscience which is good. It is late on Tuesday and he was supposed to have seen a doc today.

For me, I hope it is a wake up call, that Nathan got lucky and will be fine in a few days, but I also hope the Doc can put the fear of [INSERT DEITY OF CHOICE HERE] into him so he stays healthy and take staying healthy seriously. Can we please keep #teaminfirmary to a limit... it is getting rather full...

good news is that he is expected to be fully recovered and hopefully will be back stronger next season (and free of growing pains!) rest well baby

Hopefully he will train smart and not overdue it like he did this time when he comes back. Since they will ease him back into his jumps that will be a good time for him to work on his skating skills, speed and spins. He has the jumps now he will need to work on everything else.

Oh, I'm so sad hearing about Nathan being injured! He is so young. My sister is a gymnastic champion and I remember she injured her ankle at the age of 11 and struggled with that for almost seven years. Being a professional athlete is so demanding :( Hope he get well soon.
