Nathan Chen

And also some of P/C’s show programs. Omgggggggggg Nathan is always full of surprises. I’m sooooo excited!!!

Thank you!

@ khtmyzr, Nathan is currently considering statistics for his major while fulfilling med school requirements, even though his favorite study in high school is Biology.

Oh wow, so he is going for even more workload!? But I do agree it’s a good idea to major in non-science major, he’ll have a wider spectrum of knowledge. I had a friend who was a pre-med but majored in economics, she had to take a lot of extra courses that were not otherwise required for her major. It worked out though, and she still had her social life and did a bunch of activities so I guess it shouldn’t be much of a problem time-wise. And I assume he must’ve taken a bunch of APs to waive himself out of some introductory classes so that would surely help. :agree:

Interesting choice. I don't really follow ice dance but he's choreographed for a number of top teams. Funny how he's trained in Canton, which is the center of US ice dance, and now he's in Montreal at the center of Canadian ice dance.

Yet, Canton is not the center of US ice dance any longer. The closest the US gets for a center now would be DSC (Igor/Pasquale) or Wheaton, MD. Montreal otherwise is the center of US and Canadian Ice dance and quickly to Japanese ice dance as well.

So does that mean no balletic this season...

No, that does not mean that. It has not been revealed to the public yet if Sam is doing one or both of Nathan programs, and either way, Sam (like most proper choreographers) works in a wide range of styles.

It could also be just a gala program now I think about it. He has 2 shows coming up in Japan.

Thanks everyone for sharing!

It seems that Nathan in Canada - but Montreal, not just Toronto (well assuming he's going there for boots and more choreo)

I am super excited for this program! He sounds like a great choice of choreographer for Nathan.

from: http://montrealgazette.com/sports/o...l-helped-tessa-virtue-and-scott-moir-win-gold

One of the people Dubreuil and Lauzon first reached out to for help with Virtue and Moir was Montreal dancer/choreographer Samuel Chouinard to provide a set of fresh eyes for their free-skate program to the song Roxanne from the movie Moulin Rouge. Dubreuil thought Chouinard could turn Moulin Rouge into a “masterpiece” on ice.

He did.

“I’m not a skater and I didn’t start as a skater, so the thing that I’m suggesting and the thing that I choreographed for them is something I would see off ice,” Chouinard, whose work can range from hip-hop to contemporary dance, said in CBC’s outstanding behind-the-scenes video titled Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir’s Epic Olympic Journey. “And then some people when I introduced them the movements or what I wanted them to do they were like: We didn’t think we could do this. And I’m like: Let’s just push the boundaries.”

Said Moir: “He kind of in a way made our dreams come true what we could do to Roxanne.”

I doubt it since he doesn't really have any other time to do his competitive programs. He already had his long program by this time last year.

Need @hhh to validate lol

Kid you not, we ran a list of Sam (of the three names he gave) after m&g in the parking lot 😂 And based on how he talks about Shae-Lynn, unless she had a change of mind, she should be doing one for him. This will be interesting, I’m excited to see him and Nathan doing something unique! Just don’t touch MJ songs, the ex of V/M was lacking to me.

Woohoo glad things are moving along!

Sam recently collaborated on an exhibition program for the young Canadian quadster Stephen G with Marie-France, so he may be collaborating with someone else here as well. He also worked on movement with Stephen and Junhwan Cha last year, possibly for the latter's Oly K-pop ex. So it could be collaboration or solo work on a new program of some kind.

Btw, Nathan’s ig keeps losing followers since the WC. It went from 313k to 308k - is this normal?

no idea if it's normal, however he normally gets 30-50k likes, 44.7k likes just for a picture of Brooklyn bridge...that's over 10+% of his followers, I guess it's a pretty good engagement rate?

Some people may register a new account during OG to follow a specific skater and abandoned it after...not sure if it is reflected in the follower counts.

Really hoping you are right!

Well I think he probably will debut his competitive program(s) at the shows because he will likely have fewer competitions this season. Last year he did Japan Open and US Classic, and I kind of doubt he'll have time for either of those this year.

I couldn't find any new Harlem gala photos, but I did find Nathan in a few photos where I hadn't noticed him before. Shouldn't be hard to spot him once you know what to look for.

I’m so hungry seeing this story, looks delicious!

@shine it’s not normal, but seeing how very little he engages with the public/fans and post almost entirely for sponsors purpose, it’s a surprise his followers hasn’t dropped over 10%, 2~3% isn’t bad. Btw don’t overrate IG like count, per study, IG users have tendency to thumb likes as they scroll through the posts 😁
