Nathan Chen

BTW another Raf (not mentioning ) "Russian" interview
https://rsport.ria.ru/interview/20181109/1145633054.html
the part about Nathan that I thought is interesting is
"He is not bad, even added something. He admitted to me that he had become much more attentive to some things than he had been before, when we worked together every day."
My understanding is Nathan worked on his PCS stuff, like SS etc. out of his own desire/effort.

okay, seems the Raf interview is an old one, i just started to read post from page 668. I have a recess right now (same as Nathan).

okay I kinda finished reading from page 688
about Nathan's current training and tech issue
I share the opinion with @bm1111

"
I think he should definitely improve his jump set-ups (make them more part of the program) and landings, and that is something that he won't be able to do without a coach at his side.
The other thing would be skating with musicality and being comfortable with footwork/transitions while doing quads.
(although I'm starting to think that it's not about being comfortable, but that he simply doesn't enjoy it enough or doesn't care for that, when he gets to do jumps)

the highlighted part are the area Nathan needs to improve regarding jump in the future.

would NOT judge Nathan's training arrangement at the moment

but just based on his SA outing, my opinion:
improved area: SS, ice coverage/pattern, speed, performance(well, he is innately gifted)
still needs work: apparently, he is still unconformable with different entry(choreographically designed) with his quads. He even feel uncomfortable with the entry to his 3LZ in SP let alone 4LZ.... spin and step levels.

that been said, SA is a huge success for Nathan, but considering his major rivals, still kinda question mark.

improvement in Team Nathan's logistic is their planned staying in Russia a couple of days ahead of an GP that is hold in the same time zone (so that he won't have jet lag issue). Team Nathan seems never did that before. that is one thing kinda worries me before, thought Team Nathan is not as professional as other skaters of his caliber. Which is also a good indication, Team Nathan is serious about this season. despide need to balance Yale full course load which everyone including myself think it is too difficult and nearly impossible.

Hope Nathan can pull out a perfect SP with huge score in France. which he never did last season, and it could be a milestone.

ETA, also, it is very likely, Nathan will qualify for Grand prix Final, and the schedule is not very friendly (I guess it overlaps with his finals), how will Nathan handle this.

Nathan looks fabulous in this picture.

Finally Nathan is wearing high top Nike. Our shorts-loving SoCal boy knows how to take good care of his feet in this cold weather . Japanese fans don’t need to worry his feet/ankle getting cold anymore ;). Thanks sheetz for the links.
