[GOLD Nathan Chen - Being a full-time college student hasn’t kept Chen from maintaining his status as one of the best in the world. He’s been undefeated this season so far, most recently winning the Grand Prix Final last month. Like last season, it’s been building blocks for him in his technical content. And also like last season, as he’s built up his technical content, he’s also watered down his in-betweens. He went to Canada to sharpen up his programs before he spent time back in LA training, and for him to fend off the best of the best later in this season, it will be important for him to bring back that completeness in his programs in his quest for a third US title. Detroit will be another stepping stone for him toward Worlds in March.]

5) How Can Anyone Forget About World Champion Nathan Chen
His resumé — and array of quads — is off the charts. He is the reigning world and Grand Prix Final champion, a 2018 Olympic team bronze medalist and boasts a lot more hardware. Chen, now a student at Yale, is trying to mix high-level skating with his education. He’s making his two endeavors work so far, winning Skate America, Internationaux de France and then successfully defending his title at the 2018 Grand Prix Final. He’s had some falls on quads and a blown combination along the way, but overcame it.
 
I know it's looking increasingly unlikely considering Nathan's school schedule, but I really hope he goes to 4CC this year. It'll be fun! Otherwise it'll just be Shoma vs Boyang (maybe Jun on a good day). Do the right thing, Nate.
