Nathan Chen

Well he’ll probably train the 4S during his time with Raf to fine tune it to have it in his arsenal to use during Worlds in case he needs a 5th quad to secure a win or something & decide if he needs to use it or not at that time. He gets 2 weeks with Raf until the Men’s SP (maybe 3 if he takes off some school days early) so that should be enough time to work out any kinks. He only 2 weeks with Raf to get his Nationals performance

I think I heard that Nathan is planning to get more break before world, because he wants to work with Raf.

And some pics before FS warm-up

He looks so handsome those pictures!

So handsome:luv17:

Likely he will get to prep for Worlds with Raf for around the same amount of time as for Nationals - but not sure! 3 weeks would be great.

Zhou: When I was very young, Nathan was one of the people I wanted to be like. When I was preliminary, he was intermediate. Over the years, I closed the gap - and my first time competing against him was really cool.

I was listening to skate radio while the men’s event was going on (the last two groups only tho) and they complimented Nathan a few times like how he’s able to think on his feet & add or change an element during performances (this was after a performance where a skater had to do similar but wasn’t as effective at it I believe?). Also how he’s able to do the quads that he does without looking tired & makes it look easy is incredible because some of the skaters were visibility getting tired towards the end of their performances & the announcers thought it’s because the quads can take so much energy out of a skater

Am I the only one thinking about how if Nathan had skated at 4CC or anywhere else like he did at Nationals omg... because inflation aside, the score would have been ENORMOUS!! I hope he can bring that same quality to Worlds + a little more lively Caravan.

Well, I think most people think that the 4CC podium would have been different with Nathan's participation ... but I have the impression that he has learned to be more cautious: his SP and FS scores in ISU events are pretty good despite not having clean programs, being 4CC in the US many would have questioned the scores he got :rolleye: (as they do now with poor Vincent :palmf: ) and that would have generated unnecessary drama for Worlds :drama: ... or maybe he just needed time to do his homework :scard7:

I have certainly noticed that more skaters are applying "Nathan's strategy" when a quad doesn't turn out well, but there are still skaters who lose combinations and jumps in their attempt :confused2:

When the presentation of "Caravan" in US Nats ended I felt "Awww why!" I wanted him to keep skating and "Land of All" was simply captivating :luv17:

‘Chen’s “Godfather” performance earned a standing ovation as well as a personal-best score of 193.90 points. Despite the excitement in the arena, Chen remained humble, only revealing a delighted smile after his scores were posted.’
Nathan hasn’t changed:)

Stephanee Grosscup: ‘We are really great friends. I will always be a fan of Nathan Chen.’:luv17:

‘Mariah just called herself the third wheel in Romain & Nathan’s relationship’ - lol

I think the text above Nathan says, ‘Is this competitor going to present the biggest challenge?’

His variety of quads is mentioned in the speech bubble

Q: Does Nathan Chen feel like his biggest rival, isn’t it?
A: I think he might be the best rival of Japan. I think that he is very scary because he can do a lot of quads, and also he can get positive goe from other elements.

[ What is the 'cautionary' player who threatens Japan?
"He can do a lot of quads and the program is characterized by the flexibility of the body"]
