Nathan Chen

Frugal Nathan can always use the black Le Corsaire costume for the tango during the GPs

Black lace shirt - and with crystals! Wonder if it still fits - he was more boyish and super slim that season. But he could have it altered to fit:)

While I like the Vera costumes, and appreciate that they are comfortable for Nathan - as well as fit his preferred aesthetic, and streamlined and flattering to his physique ... it's interesting that we (or at least me!) get excited about him wearing his old costumes again :p

Like at The Ice last year, when he brought back the Prince Igor red sparkly sequined tunic, it was unexpected and very nice:luv17:

I was kind of surprised it still fit, but then maybe the design made it easy to alter to his new physique.

From Canon interview, sounds like his practicing alone at Yale - in between all that piano playing and singing - had not been going well. 4Lz, 4F were not going well, and he said he didn't even jump on the day before he left for Japan.

He was thinking about bringing back 4Lo this season. I guess 4S, 4Lo would really require more coaching with Raf. It was best that he didn't push for them when he was training on his own.

He mentions UCLA(?) doesn't have their own rink where he would be able to get ice time.

Was happy to read: 'Even now I am busy and find time to relax with my friends and enjoy university life.'

'We all have food at school, study together in the library, walk on campus, and much more. Help with someone's homework, get help. There are also many talks with the members of the dormitory's room share until the night every day, and some people cook and eat. Other than skating, for example, environmental issues, politics, economy, statistics, and so on, it's full of topics. It's really exciting.'

I didn't know he basically skipped kindergarten:
When I was in kindergarten, I finished first grade in elementary school, went to a public elementary school in Salt Lake City, and graduated in five years.

Sounds like he really takes his mom's advice:
After all, children do not know what is good for their future, so they need some guidance. Parents' guidance was important to discover what they wanted to do and what they were good at. I did various sports, and as a result, I found that figure skating was the best. When I was a kid, I really wanted to be an ice hockey player, but it was pointed out that different competitions are good because I am not good at stick screening. At the same time, my mother strongly urged me to go to school full time now. I think that he always showed the correct index.

Seems like we will not be seeing another ballet program:
However, I would like to explore a new field, a new self, rather than return to classics now ... From now on, I would like to explore new fields on the basis of classics.

It makes it more impressive how Raf was able to coach him in such a short amount of time to allow him to get them back. Especially considering how gorgeous his 4Lz was in his FS.

Oh gosh... A tango SP and a costume with even a teensy pop or color -- preferably red or purple -- please, Nathan, please!

And oh, thank you sheetz for responding to my concern and allaying my fears re: the SOI fall.

Gray is a color. I hope he goes all black, with just a touch of gray.

sheetz, what is the UCLA thing about?

He says that he's able to use the Yale rink whenever it's free, unlike if he were attending a university in LA (May be referring to UCLA), since they have strong men's and women's hockey teams. But it doesn't sound like UCLA has their own rink so I don't know. USC doesn't either.
-----------------------
BTW, Team Raf officially moved to Great Park Ice April 1. Amazingly, there's ice time seven days a week, and even Sunday freestyle is from 5:30am to 1:50pm. Nathan will not have to drive around looking for weekend ice time whenever he's back home.

No college in California has their own ice rink - at least none that I'm aware of.

The new ice facility looks amazing and better for the skaters all-around. Though probably they won't be hanging out in LBC as it's kind of far from Irvine - closest to the rink would be Laguna Beach (didn't he mention he would like to take Shoma there:))

Nathan will probably have to find a new apartment. Romain and Mariah I think have moved to Irvine.
