Nathan Chen

Just saw Nathan's Nemesis from Carnival on Ice and OMG it was SO. FREAKING. GOOD. About 10 times sharper than at US Intl. Classic. If he can combine this level of performance with the quads, this would be one truly incredible program.

Looooved Nathan at Carnival on Ice, he was really selling it. Here's hoping he can figure out how to do that level of performance with all of the difficult elements included, as shine said - because it would really be killer.

I just love everything  He skated like a seasoned pro and he clearly loves skating to this music. If he manages to perform like this and get 9s in PCS, NO ONE should be complaining.

I went to Japan Open & COI in Saitama Arena, especially Nathan's Nemesis is sooo cool. Just amazing!! Quick and beautiful steps!! He's dancing & skating on the ice, everyone said wow omg. Village dance's also great, even I thought he'd earn higher scores. Anyways both are treat to watch, thank to Nathan. All audience stood up, waved the U.S. flag and called 'Nathan!!', some waved hand-made gorgeous Nathan banners! We do hope he enjoys his stay in Japan😄 We unfortunately didn't have any photo/ autograph session as usual😭

Love that sp. Loved last year's, but this one is way beyond that. From the first clips we saw I knew I would love it and all together it is just wonderful.

Not sold on the long yet, but it is October.

The black shirt fits the song--modern and sleek--and shows off Nathan's body lines much better than the baggy red one. I hope this, or something similar, is his official costume!

Hand flourish in All Nathan's spins not just the final fist pump on beat, although that one is the killer move.
attention to details like this kinds is all over Nathan's SP and FS. which is really not here in last year's programs.

Nathan added some transition moves in the middle part of SP. I love it, it makes the middle part fuller and more interesting.
But he also took off this little hop move here.

I miss that move. it is a motif move in this program, hope he can keep it.

I really appreciate that Nathan performed the Nemesis SP at Canival on Ice, as I got the impression earlier that dark exhibition lighting instead of the usual competition lighting would suit this program better. I'm one happy camper right now.

about SP opening.
I have an idea.
Nathan could do some minuscule counting beat moves (e.g. something like when you hear a really rhythm music like this one, you will unconsciously move along the beats ) before the actually impactful opening move starts. Nothing too big or fancy, just to give the audience and himself a little heads up.

I also like all spins' wind down transitions, particularly well thought for and executed in this performance.

I knew Nathan was serious about improving when I saw those two jumps to the music during the footwork the first time I watched. It would look ridiculous if he didn't commit, but he's all in!
I totally get what you mean. A lot of the choreography in the stsq would look so over the top if he didn't fully committ to the music and movement, but he did this time. I thought those two hops were a bit out of place at the last comp, but here I am just all  Such abandon!
