Nathan Chen

FS looked really nice in the rink as well, nice ice coverage patten! And he kept his gentle waltz jump transition and other transitions that will make @shine happy
The program is indeed looking better and better  and his skating skills really look like they've improved. It's smoother with deeper knees and he covers more ice. But what's with his jumps? :drama: I really hope he's not overtraining them and will have them sorted out soon!! Also curious yyyskate, where are you getting all the reports?

I think I spotted 3 Nathan banners in the runthru video, one with his Chinese name on the top - could this be by his Chinese fans? :D

it seems Nathan lowered his BV by doing 5 different kinds of quad + 2 3As instead of 6 quads.
and he will do 4lz-3t as his opening combo, not put it in the second half any more
All indicates he is not feeling his 4LZ at the moments, and have a better grasp of his 3A ironically

I feel his goals at Rostelecom Cup are to place no lower than second place and to try to make history by executing 5 different quads in a long program.

I get all my repo from twitter, you could search nathan chen in twitter
follow nathanchen Jfanclub, and Jacke Wang he is there live reporting.
To my knowledge, I dont think any Chinese fans of Nathan's went to Russia, TONS of chinese Yuzuru fans went to Russia though.
Could be a Chinese fan of other skaters just helped to bring a banner for Nathan on behave of Nathan's Chinese fan club or something like that.

Nathan's SS really improved, his glide/edges are longer and more effortless, that is very obvious.

In September, Chen(18) because the first skater to successfully land 5 different quads in international competition. Regarding putting them together in a single free program: "That's the goal. It'll be great if I can attempt it here (at Rostelecom)."

Although he made conspicuous errors on his quad attempts during the official practice, he says his condition "isn't a problem." On seeing Hanyu land the quad Lutz: "Just being able to watch him practice is awesome. It's great that we're all pushing each other to raise our level." He indicated he was looking forward to the first competition of the season.

Nathan is scheduled to skate 4th in Group 2 at 15:13 local time.

I was in the arena today. He fell quite a lot but he also landed quite a lot of quads, popped some. Overall he looked normal, not bad.

Thanks. I was concerned. Do you know which quads he landed? Did he look tired or nervous? Praying that everything goes well tomorrow!

Thought he was lowballed on PCS.

But gosh, I'm such a Nathan uber. Love his musicality, his style, his guts, his passion and how he's a fighter through and through.

Nathan's SP GP debut performance is explosive in Chinese figure skating community, He got overwhelmingly great reception from literally ALL skating fans.
Many including skating fans of his rivals think he is LOWBALLED in PCS.

Many also think that US skating federation should support their TRUE star skater as he deserved.

I personally think such an original, creative program with such bravery and abandonment during the most stressfull OG season should be HIGHLY appreciated and awarded by ISU.

No matter what, At least Nathan's SP already win the hearts of PEOPLE.

I hope Nathan can stick to his plan, and be proud of what he has accomplished and continuing his exciting OG season with his full heart (and ignore all negativity)

We figure skating fans supports and adores you!

Love this program and he's selling it more every time I see it. In terms of PCS I would separate out the first two from the final two. I think the first two are fair, but I would put him in the 9s for the other 3. They should reward the originality, construction, and musicality of the program.

The judges were sharply divided about PCS. They would alternate 9 and 8s. It’s like some were ready to score him week but half kept his score down. Sigh...

German Eurosport commentators loved Nathan's program and said he was amazing for choosing such a interesting music, especially with his tech, because that usually means a skater uses a more slower tune. Anyway, they are fans. :)

I absolutely love his Nemesis SP. It's unique, powerful, intense, and it fits Nathan's skating to a tee. I thought he deserved a much higher PCS, and this is coming from a non-fan (who's slowly riding the Nathan bandwagon) :drama:

This is probably true, but since when have judges really done that ever? PCS after more than a decade is still judged more or less the same as it was under the 6.0 system. I don't think that performance as a whole should've scored lower presentation-wise than MK.

yes, it reflected on GOE as well, take stsq lv4 GOE as an example, I believe the same judges gave Nathan 9s in PCS also give him +3 in stsq GOE. yet judges give Nathan 8s give him +2
I personally, think that is the very deserving +3 GOE stsq, just looked all the stsq in this competition.

It is very obvious that before the competition even starts, judges already has their agenda. NOTHING NEW tho.

well i think it's a fair pcs if you compare it to the salt lake city version (ofc overscored pcs for some as usual)

this layout is slightly out of sync with music and some hand movement change is debatable

i feel chen "played it safe" by leaving out the complex entry into 4Lz if it placed at the last, also the spread eagle into/out of 3A is gone

chen's goal is probably to clean the salt lake version at the right time, if he successes, i seriously hope judges give him the score he deserves which is potentially 110+,otherwise there will be death threat (joking)

Some very excited NEW Chinese figure skating fans' comment. they happened to switch TV channel, and Nathan's SP is on, and instantly WOWed, and ever since, they have being so excited and have a strong desire to explore the sport of figure skating

I hope US main media can expose more of Nathan's amazing SP performance.

I just read USA today's coverage of Cup of Russia, the only thing:palmf: they mentioned is the bland text of Nathan landed 2 quad..... And their info regarding the quads is incorrect:palmf:.

US media should expose performance of Nathan to the mass population, they will fall in love with the sports of figure skating again, cos it felt so cool when you watch Nathan's SP.
