Nathan Chen

You know, they say it's possible to be TOO talented, and I think that may be part of Nathan's problem. He gets away with so many crazy things that normal skaters would never dream of attempting. He's so good that it's easy to forget he's only 18 and still a bit of a loose cannon. Hopefully as he matures he'll start settling down a bit.

17.

Also, is there any chance Nathan will change back to his previous or different costumes for the Games?

But there was absolutely no problem with connection at US International Classic. In fact his first outing with that program was by far the best we’ve seen so far this season. And it’s not like Nathan hasn’t done exceptional lyrical programs before.

That reminds me: are those low quality videos of his programs at US Int Classic, that can be found on youtube, the only ones out there? :(
He skated those programs beautifully in that event, wish there was some better footage of it.

Unless the Japanese media that attended is holding onto video, IN was the only outlet recording.

Nathan's new exhibition is FANTASTIC. It was the highlight of what has been a crazy week at Nationals. I'm hoping that the exhibition comes across just as great when it's aired on T.V., because it was electric seeing it live. I think it will even satisfy the most fastidious Nathan fan :luv17:. Although, you should all be warned that it appeared as though Nathan was wearing his training gear (a Nike shirt and sweats) for the show and had no costume.

I'm at the Olympics send off event, met his mother and is creeping on his family eating the hors d'oeuvre. I can confirm the curls are natural, and his brother had them as well as glasses

ETA: hanging out with the president of the Japanese fandom, and will be trying to get some one-on-two time with him to ask the burning questions about his hair and outfits. If we can swing it, I will be mentioning the change of choreography as concerned by the fanfest.

Fun fact, his mom doesn't know where he is right now and told us we can find him we can ask whatever we want lolol

It was so flirty. Could def see where some of the choreography was pulled from parachute/stole the show

I think he was wearing black jeans.

I didn't want to be too negative here since it's his fan thread but I really have been quite disappointed with his FS in the recent outings performance and choreography-wise. Most of this could also be because I had such high expectations for it since seeing it in September. The program now looks like a skeleton of what it once was. I wish I could be more excited about him finally landing 5 quads, but I really wasn't, especially if it meant all these other things had to be sacrificed.
i am more dissapointed by his costumes.

 the poor guy...

Oh well, but I think it's kinda sweet, that what I believe to be his personal, more natural style (i.e. curls gone wild and casual, slightly loose and informal clothing) was more of a success with everyone (and not only with his fans either, but seemingly most people in general), than this look created by a fashion designer and hollywood hair stylist. ;)

I also suspect that he might have kinda been talked into this... the idea probably was to give him a cleaner, more mature packaging by professionals. Which, on paper, sounds reasonable, and assuming that he likes it simple and low-key, of course he would like this.

That sleek look just SO doesn't fit his programs... And it probably doesn't help that the short hair is reminiscent of his hairdo back when he was a teenage kid in juniors, so ironically it makes him look younger, even though shorter hair usually results in a more angular look.
