Nathan Chen

lay-out change also will hurt Nathan's performance music timing.
I think they rely too much on Nathan's innate musicality and improvise ability towards the end of this season. Thus, Nathan's performance level at OG 6 quads FS is really marvelous. Also, just so you know, Nathan's FS is NOT a musical timing forgiving program at all. Musically, it is much more difficult than Nathan's last year FS.

recommend to watch TSL's pair recap with Megan.
One thing Megan repeatedly talk about is the school/vision of coaching/skating. she said Russian coaches never ask skaters to do run-through with the exception of Eteri's school. She cannot understand how those skaters can pull it off even occasionally in competition. In her daily training, they will do run-throughs on daily basis, one program will be complete run-though, the other, they may omit some elements but make sure to keep the choreo/flow intact. because it is very important for them to get the feeling of their program choreo every day.

Olympic channel posts some video about nathan!

+) Does anyone know which video the commentary is on at this olympic channel video?

it is NBC stream commentary. also the lady is the same commentator for Yuna's 2014 OG FS that has been posted on youtube by olympic official youtube channel.

I guess if Nathan's OG FS will be posted on olympic official youtube channel eventually, it will be this version.

Not to mention the step and choreo sequences. It's crazy how good they are in practice.

I have to think the difference is because Nathan always pushes himself to his very limits during competition so he has to conserve energy.

Speaking of stsq, I think Nathan's OG FS stsq is his closest to perfect performance of that newer version of stsq so far. I am actually very very proud of him for achieving that. And his choreo sequence, although he did not do that "tour" jump, it is just pure emotion! People can pay attention to Nathan's facial expression in Nathan's OG FS (NBC HD cam angle) it was really amazing.

I didn't know the source but that version of Nathan's FS is currently my favorite right now. Here's the full FS.

Speaking of... I love this fan-cam of his FS run-through sans jumps:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoBZKzIktGg

I'm not imagining things, right? He's showing a lot more commitment to the music and much more pronounced body movements

Ahhh... I remember when skaters started to reveal their music choices this summer. I didn't know much about Nathan but wanted to know what music he's chosen. Though he kept delaying his music choice announcement

So I went to Rostelecom not knowing it (I haven't watched us classic).

So when I first listened to it at the arena... I was, like, in a trance. Idk, maybe I'm too sensitive  But it felt like I was the only one there at the rink. I was deep inside that music and performance and it sounded magical and hypnotizing to me.

As for this fancam, I don't get why people say Nathan is just a jumper. I mean, r they blind... :') There's no jumps, but it feels so full. The movements are so smooth and fluid, I can't :drama:

Nathan ate sashmi in korea! lol
He seems to be enjoy it..:)

I don't know much about Korean sashimi but from what I've read it's common to kill the fish just before serving. In this case it looks like he's eating octopus so it's likely it was still moving on the plate. Which is why his mother didn't want to look.

Many Japanese fans are also happy to see Nathan skillfully using chopsticks.

Feel so happy for you that you had this sensation watching Nathan in person without knowning his FS music. it is a very rare skating view experience, stars have to be aligned for you to feel that. if you were to watch Nathan perform similar performance in person again, you may not feel it again. I think Nathan just earned a fan for life.

Great read..
Before I say adieu I feel compelled to share something with all of you. In the ballet world we are excited to acknowledge a great choreographer or dancer who bring to our world beautiful art for our eyes to behold.

For many years at Ice Castle in Lake Arrowhead I had the pleasure of watching Lori Nichol mold Michelle Kwan into a beautiful skater. Now I have to say to you Lori thank you for not only Nathan Chen’s Maos Last Dancer but for so many amazing programs you have so graciously shared with all of us over the years. I don’t know if it’s because I was a ballet dancer that this hit me so hard, or because I just want to stand up and say to the world. Thank you Lori for your meticulously crafted programs filled with precision excellence!

Warmest gratitude,
Phillip

Oh tears, tears, tears! @georgia are you Phillip Mills

About Nathan's FS Mao's Last Dancer. As Nathan said he felt closer and closer to the protagonist in the story as the season goes on.

And I just made another connection.

The tagline of Mao's last dancer is: Before You Can Fly You Have To Be Free.

That is exactly what Nathan achieved, He had nothing to lose, let go everything that imprisoned him and skated completely freely in his free , he flied and won the free that night.

Free No. 1

Most of the people were amazed by the quads, and failed to recognize the artistic side of the program. I am glad Phillip did.

I think so too :') I want to see him again. If only he'd visit Europe again, like Finland or France... Want this to happen so much.

Also, what's georgia talking about? The post he's answering to was deleted or..?
