Nathan Chen

Johny mentioning Nate's artistry in NBC maybe is because there are some script(e.g. he was reminded to bring up Nate's artistry) NBC commentary usually is just advocating status quo, and PC, in all figure skating disciplines. Eurosports and CBC often have more independent opinions. but Kurt Browning really loves Nathan from junior time. His commentary about Nathan is consistent and appreciates all his qualities despite of the "quad king" campaign slogan.

I don't think so. Johnny has been complimentary and bringing attention to Nathan's artistry as early as 2015 (when he did Chopin). I don't think he needed to fake it by saying emphatically "He's beautiful!" during Stole the Show either.

Yeah, I believe he has a couple good years at nationals before he has to worry about anyone. He's not going to have to catch up to anyone on a technical level. If anything people will have to try catch up to him while his pcs only improves. So I feel he's going to be tough to beat for awhile.

Of course, you can never be too sure.

I don't think anyone in the world could catch up with him technically during his career (at least during this Olympic cycle). Artistically he is really special to me; as long as he pays attention to the performing part, he is the best. USFS may have some top men skaters coming up, but Nathan will have lots of national titles and still win by great margins in the coming years I guess.

lol not sure it's in a script for johnny to say what a perfect body he has, but you never know  I do love Kurt though.

 Johnny is not reading off a script ofc, just they may have some heads up as for what points they need to bring up, e.g. Johny is responsible for reminding people of Nate's artistry.
At least this is my impression.

maybe some of Johnny's commentary is indeed coming out of his heart. cos Nate is really beautiful to watch, how could anyone miss it:biggrin:

No, Johnny has been appreciating Nathan's skating since he was at junior level. When Nathan did his MJ and Chopin programs at his first nationals, he mentioned Nathan as a complete skater, and since then I did separate Johnny from Tara haha.

We can at least all agree Tara's my little quad machine is terrible. Johnny at least appreciates him for everything he does.

I think Johnny appreciates all of Nathan including his physique and slimness - easier for a needle to rotate than a pumpkin lol

the reason why i think Kurt Browning loves Nathan perhaps more than Johnny is because, Kurt Browning's commentary of Nate is usually always spot on, nothing felt like a generic compliment to me. Whereas Johnny's at times felt generic.

I think Johnny genuinely loves Nathan - he said that 2017 Nationals FS was by far the most exciting athletic feat he has seen in his life. I don’t think his artistry comments were following some script.

Love the CBC commentary from jr worlds - little gems everywhere, so many parts I would like to see again, etc.

I love the CBC commentary. The way Kurt speaks during the programs is really poetic.

yes the most awkward and embarrassing commentary I have ever heard is from Tara's live NBCSN commentary of Nate's OG FS, something like "he should be named Nathan Quad, let us change it"...
:palmf::palmf::palmf::palmf::palmf::palmf::palmf::palmf:
Even NBC felt it is soooo bad that they need to crop it out of their Prime broadcast.

And I'll never forgive Tara for ruining the most beautiful 2nd movement during Nathan's Chopin FS by going on and on with Terry about Nathan playing Hockey :bang:

today's dose of serendipity

Nathan's Chinese weibo account fellowed Yuna's weibo Chinese fanclub account.

there is a weibo account of Nathan opened around 2011 was active for a few months and deserted since, was suspiciously considered Nathan's weibo account.

I’ve noticed on twitter that a lot of Nathan fans also find Tessa to be 🔥🔥

Ice dancer's fans appreciate Nathan says a thing or two about him:love:

Nathan has a weibo account? Maybe his mom set it up for him lol

it was not active for years. Also Patrick has a weibo account as well, but also is not active for years....

I think if Nathan still remembers his weibo account password, he could make good use of it when 2022 OG approaches.

Denis Ten also has a weibo account, and was very interactive with his fans on it for while.

Yeah, she think it's a compliment. She was a jumping bean.

I'll be happy if he starts to use twitter/ig again. He can work on weibo after.

what happened to this FF?
