Nathan Chen

Just my impression - Nathan seems less sheltered to me than some other top skaters - he can’t only do skating, lots of outside interests ... and going to Yale and college in general will be a great thing for him.

Honestly he is just one of those people who could excel at almost anything - so talented plus his work ethic. And gifted in so many ways - my friend even commented that he has perfect hands (for like ballet, piano) - I mean seriously !

I agree. Skating isn't his whole life and he has various interests. And honestly he's good at so many things??? It's amazing how talented and smart he has.

I think he wants to grow as a person and Yale will be good for him.

Nathan did lots of things growing up: skating, hockey, dance, gymnastics, public school, and met a lot of people and made lots of friends. But he had to give all that up when he moved to California to focus on skating so I can totally understand his position. Yet if anyone could balance Yale and skating it would be him as he's been juggling so many things his entire life. I think he really doesn't know of any other way.

"But if anyone could balance Yale and skating it would be him" - completely agree.

The more active a fan base, the more scrutinized the posters will be. I assume we’ll have to be careful from now on. I’m going to reread the rules just to be sure I don’t misstep.

I remember last year a lot of bickering broke out. I think they want to preemptively stop big arguments from breaking out again. I’ve been on message boards for 20 years. I’m so over bickering with people. I say my piece and leave. If they persist, I block them. Nathan is going to get a lot of flack for winning.

All upstarts get this treatment. So many pages on Evgenia after she started to dominate. Now Alina. Eventually Nathan will improve a great deal in his Edge work, spins, and transistions. Plus he’ll discover his strengths artistically. After that he’ll gain even more fans and then this thread will really be popping.

I was here when no one knew anything about him. I was here during his come back in 2016, and everyone focused else where. I was here at the GPF 2016, when he finally made the world turn around and realize his talent. I’ve been here for every competition good or bad, with crossed fingers and toes. And I’ll be there enjoying the ride of a lifetime. ITs not often you get to see a protegy’s rise into becoming a legend.

I hope yyyskate will back soon. The thread seems a bit empty with her.

even without his skating, he's a very accomplished and driven person

I am so moved by your post :thank:

He seems kinda modest
I wonder if he was aware he was being filmed?

yeah i doubt it
but it's really good that he's sticking by what he wants to do. that and being honest and genuine. it'll really serve him well and is part of what makes his personality so attractive, for me, anyways.

Since Patrick is retired and his time is relevantly flexible, I am always dreaming that he can come to Nathan to help with his SS and postures, even co-coach Nathan with RAF, at least for a few months. Patrick's SS is so exquisite and his postures are always elegant and beautiful. Now because you name Nathan to "pass the torch" to, you have the responsibility to build a better Nathan. Please do it, Patrick!

Oh, I wish! Posture and skating skills... please, Patrick, help Nathan. Continue the work you started with Nathan the summer of 2016.

Maybe someone with a twitter account can get chanchan's message retweeted a thousand times?
:)

there are only two gifs where his abs are showing.. i think
and lots where you can see his arms and whatnot
but no full shirtless pics yet (which can still be PG) :p

I should confess that I have tried googling for nathan’s Shirtless pics only to be disappointed 😂

I think even more than skating skills Patrick can pass onto Nathan his experience. The two of them have so much in common and they can relate to one another in ways that no one else can. Patrick has already had to deal with basically everything that Nathan is dealing with, and he's someone that Nathan trusts, respects, and will hopefully listen to.
