Nathan Chen

jookin
I watched the vogue video you linked, some of the arm movements (the fluidity in it) reminds me of Nathan's BFTE and Stole the show.
I think it maybe doable for Nathan, if anybody, Nathan is the one to do it.
but to transfer jookin to ice foot work/edges is a very difficult job, actually experimental. I could imagine some moving sculpture type of move that incorporates the spirit of jookin and meanwhile bland in upper body dance moves. but to make it real and authentic, it need the genius of Choreographers.

Stephane's Otono Porteno is OMG amazing. He is the skater that exemplify the ultimate mastery of blade and ice relationship.

EDIT: also Stephane is probably Yuna's fav skater, she invited him to all her ATS shows including her retirement ATS show in which she danced with him and this coming newest ATS show, Stephane is also in the cast.

Oatmella, that jookin and ballet crossover is pretty interesting! I can definitely see Nathan do something like that in the future! And he seems really into hip hop anyway.

I think another reason I like the AT idea is because I think Nathan still has a few fundamental things he needs to address with his lines a posture, and I'm hoping genres like that will force him to focus on them and correct them in the process.
And while I would definitely love to see him bring something different (and it's almost expected he will) to skating, I selfishly also want to see him master these more traditional types of dances that others have done before just to prove not only can he do them, but he can also do them better than all of them :biggrin: And let's be real - the real reason I want him to do a tango is because I think the hotness factor might just explode :love:

I seriously think he could do a jookin (inspired) program but yes would need a great choreographer

19th century Gothic Vampire (GROHG) or Mr. Darcy romantic program, and jookin ... my suggestions are all over the place but that just reflects on Nathan’s incredible versatility !

shine - good point about AT, the potential hotness factor is an important consideration

Yeah, I think she definitely lurrrrves him. I don't blame her. :biggrin: Guess who she invited to her ATS this time? ;) Such a great cast - I kinda wish Nathan could go so he could learn from all these greats.

I was looking at all these suggestions and imagining Nathan do them in my head.

I actually saw the realistic possiblity that Nathan can do them all out of current crop of Male skaters.

Just think about Nathan, the possibilities make me happy and really look forward to his future figure skating career.

et tu, Brute?

I will only consent to Tango if it will fix his posture ever after! Otherwise...

but seriously. jookin. finger sass. I learn so much from this thread :)

@skfan, I always a love a good tango program. Who doesn't? ;)

I don't. Single skaters make me feel they're missing a partner when they tango. Even when they are true masters of the art like Lambiel and even my beloved Daisuke Takahashi. And the revered Yu-na Kim. And Lu Chen before her...

I would much rather have jazz (without jazz hands) than tango.

@skfan
i like your suggestion
Round Midnight and Fragile

both are very mature, smoldering, sizzling, sensual etc. I don't know if 19 year old Nathan can handle all these.

there are solo Arge Tango (in dance), I will link you the link when I find it.

He can. He's a very capable actor--all he needs is someone to coach him in the presentation of the piece. Shae-lynn is more than up to it.

Anyway, Nathan exceeded my expectations with Shape of You. SO much so that i would rather see that than Tango.

Seems like you’ve really come around on Shape of You. ‘Last night you were in my room ... ;)

A smoldering Nathan program - I’m all for it (+Vampire would be a bonus)

I’d also rather see jazz than tango
